Helios 50

Your Helios will come and will be worth the wait. Mine is basically plexi to modded Marshall all in one. Does everything I want from an amp - low volume to blistering loud. 30 or 100 watts, you guys know the features. Sounds so good I haven't tube swapped yet.

If you are tired of waiting for the 50 just grab a 100watter, the master on them is fantastic!

Latest news that I've heard about the 50's:

Chassis are built and almost done, lined up, ready to go, but they've been waiting on a few specific parts to finish the job. Must be some crazy good stuff for the, to hold off things long. I can only assume once those parts are in, they'll ship ASAP.

Don't feel bad I had one on order with King Guitars since 10/2013

ON. VEHICLE. FOR. DELIVERY.

Those are tears of joy...

Stoked for ya man. Enjoyed your Shiva 20th clips. That rocknchippy dude has a youtube clip comparing the Helios setup for high gain to a Friedman JJ and an Uberschall. The Helios seriously holds its own and I think I liked it the most out of the 3. Very surprising considering what most use the amp for.

I got the call from Sweetwater. The Helios finally arrived. However I passed on it. I got my Helios fix months ago with the 100.

Sorry for the late review fellas! Here's my thoughts:

- Tone wise. I love it. It's a hot rodded Marshall with all the fixins. Slathered in Bogner flavored sauce. Not as bright as I thought it was going to be, which is a positive for me. I like a darker top end on marshalls. Some of the other hot rodded ones I've tried are a little too piercing. The helios sounds nice and fat, but clear.

- Very different beast than the XTC or Shiva. Different tone and feel. No redundancy, if you own both.

- The money tone is Hot input. 70s mode. That's worth the price of admission alone.

- The 50 watt version does seem to be slightly warmer than what I've heard from the 100 in clips. But that's my personal preference anyway. It still slams. Punchy as hell. Nothing soft about it.

- Giggable functionality is my ONLY concern. I really wish I could get Plex Input clean, and switch to Hot input 70s mode. I reeeeeeeeally wish that was an option. Hot input clean is a very plexi-crunch-esque tone, still good, but not clean clean. I could probably make it work, but would love a workaround to be able to switch back and forth between CLEAN clean, and Hot gain drive.

Hey Nick let's see a picture! You seem to be the only one around with the 50 watt Helios

I'll post a pic tonight... it's a beauty for sure. Looks killer on top of my Bogner 412.

Let me think about a proper way to describe the tone-feel. I think it's more of a thing where the Shiva, XTC, and Helios all have different dominant frequencies that make them unique.
