Help: Erect or Eggie5 for high gain?

Rich, Billy Howerdel had great tones on those APC records for sure. That "Naked" Naylor was essentially a modded Marshall so I see where you are coming from with EG3/4 and SL2. But, as these clips show, EG5 can cover alot of ground depending on where you set the treble and bass boost and of course the player. It could sound really bright and Soldano-ish if EQd that way, but there is a lot of room for dialing in a nice fat bottom end.

All of these high gain modules will probably get the job done for most applications, it just comes down to which flavor of goodness you want at any time! Im usually hungry for EG5, but SL2 and E-Rect are tasty sometimes too!

These days Billy is using 2 Axe Ultras. I love the man's tone as you can tell from the snippet. Both he and Adam Jones were big influences in my early years. I agree with this post for the most part. I determine how each module sounds with my hands. Granted each module seems to cater to certain frequencies but 5 for me is MY go to high gain tone.

I have a modded Treadplate en route and cannot wait to A/B them. In fact all said and done I'm going to run my M4 and RM4 simultaneously live with an A/B/Y. Should sound HUGE.

That clip makes me want to sell my EG3/4 and get another EG5.

Thanks for the listen Rich. Funny part is it took me longer to make the soundclick page than it did for me to upload it. Hope you're feeling better BTW.
