Looking for something I can use as a boost for a clean channel, a lead boost, and a clean boost. Was thinking Tube Screamer, but what model? Maxon OD9+'s look cool too. I'm not looking for something too expensive, so the boutique stuff it out.

Wnhatever you'd buy, Id buy used. Sd-1's can be found ridiculously cheap. My favorite boost (which is no secret :D ) is the Maxon OD808. Its not what ik would considered cheap, but perhaps you can find one used for a decent price.

Bad Monkey is always cheap.

Just buy a Bad Monkey. There's nothing wrong with them, they're really adjustable, and they're cheap. Unless you decide down the road that you are going to be a picky bastard and go sifting through all the bazillion dollar ODs out there to find the "perfect" one, I can't imagine it not being suitable.

As for the clean boost thing, just keep in mind that most all of them actually cannot be completely clean. I don't know why the hell people say they use Tubescreamer style pedals for a "clean boost." Turning some of them on with the controls completely neutral will obliterate a clean channel.

The Bad Monkey is the one I forgot to mention. That sounds like it'l be the one.

As far as Clean Boosting goes, I'm not that worried about the pedal being completely clean. I just want something to push my amp a bit harder.

You know I actually really disliked the Bad Monkey. And its because it has an EQ. I know that sounds retarded, but I hate it.

+1 on the Bad Monkey, great pedal for the money. Bypass isn't the best, but if you leave it on all the time who cars. If you get one try the mixer out, you might like it better than the regular amp out. I use the amp out myself.

Can't recommend the Bad Monkey enough. They're cheap and sound really nice. A used SD-1 would be kinda cheap as well - it sounds a little more aggressive than the Monkey.

Perhaps I'll pick up both a BM and a DS-1. I'm sure I'll find uses for both.

the BYOC screamer kits are the balls

for 80 bucks you get a clone of the original tube screamer and directions and the extra parts to turn it into a SD-1 , 808 TS-9 , or just a franken boost like I ended up with .

I never played with a boost till Kage and Telephant hooked me up

now I'm so hooked .... pushing the crunch channel of a DSL is pretty fugging sweet

I keep hearing incredible things about the Fulltone OCD .... soon I will try one

if your willing to put in the effort, you could get the Monte Allum mod kits for the Boss stuff and have yourself a boooteek pedal on the cheap.

search hard enough and you can find the schems for the mods and just buy the parts... will be even cheaper

I love my OD808, but I've been dying to try an OD9 Pro Plus.

The OD9 Pro+ does kick ass, I've been using it since it came out, until today. I just got the Ibanez TS-808 modded by Analogman with the True Vintage Mod. OMG! I love this thing

Sell me your OD9 Pro Plus for $50 then. :D
