I forgot to mention, if you only need effects, the Eventide H9 is worth a look. I dig mine, currently using it with my Vox Continental, but it's great for guitar.

If you aren't looking for amp models I would go with the HX effects. I like the line 6 effects and it's simple. I would use this opportunity to try to sell my h90 to you but it's complicated IMHO. I really like it but I can barely use it. I ended up ordering the fm3 for this reason alone.

I don't want to tap dance on pedals so either a multi effects unit or pedals that have multiple functions is where I live. Like reverb/delay pedals usually cover 90% of my needs

I just played for about 2 hours. The RP sounds darn good, and was really ahead of its time back then. I started second guessing and it certainly ain't broke, why fix it? For simple chorus, (Lexicon) reverbs and delays, it's more than adequate. Just dated.. I'm just missing a few that aren't that great on in it, (harmonizers, phasers and pitch effects leave a lot to be desired).
I really like it still. They were ahead of their time for sure, really flew under the radar. I am sure you have tried it, but moving the phaser to pre sounds best to me. Same way I would use a Phase 90.
