Hello All,

I'm new here and I'm sorry if someone has already posted a thread like this already but I really need some help. My 2 months old Herbert is now dead. I turn it on today and it's dead silent. The blue lights on the front are on but my preamp and power section is dead cold. All fuses are good. What could it be wrong. I didn't expect this from a $4,500 amp!

TT

Take it easy & email Diezel Amplification, I'm sure they'll help you out. Shit happens.

Very true.... but I just don't expect it to happen so early at this stage of the game. I tried to call Uwe in Orange County but they're closed for the holiday and won't be back until 4 or 5 days into the new year. I've sold all my amps to get, in my opinion one of the best sounding guitar amp ever... Now I have to go and get an amp from someone or somewhere to do my gig on Sunday... If I have a spare then it would be fine...but like you said... shit happens... what a way to be paying for it now.

sorry to hear that, but firstly relax.

1. what is the serial number ?
2. how did you check the fuses ?
3. which fuses in detail ?

this sucks for you but i bet its really minor, do what duesentrieb says and hopefully you will be jamming again soon.

i just had similar problem and contacted Uwe, he will take great care of you i promise!!! just listen to duesie and if that doesnt solve the problem contact Uwe Salwender at his office in california. The only thing better than diezel tone is diezel customer support.
peace
A Wood

Thanks...

1. The serial number is: 001/896
2. I check the three fuse for the power tubes (1/6, 2/5, 3/4) and three other fuses inside the chassie with a multimeter.

If you mean you put a multimeter to the kettle lead this doesn't work - my brother done this, told me he was '110%' sure the fuse was intact, open it and it was blown, replaced it and my Diezel's back up and running :)

Thanks Sam L,

Not only the fuse are still intact I replaced them all and still the same way. I think my Herbert needs more attention then just fuses. It's gonna have to wait here til Salwender International is open again for business.

Thanks for the tip Peter,

I've replaced the fuses but I guess now I'll try replacing the power tubes. So do you recomend =C= SED EL34 @ 35ma?

I´m sorry, I sold the amp for 1300 Euros.

I've just discovered a new hatred for dealers.

Why not strait from factory sales, Peter?

I think the amp is worth every penny I've paid for it, but I'd rather send it to people who actually deserve it.

If the mains fuse is alive ("blue lights") I doubt that all six powertubes are gone. Its the HT fuse(s) or the heater fuses.

Where is the HT fuse located at? I've replaced all the power fuses and three of the fuse inside with the exactly the same fuse but still the same thing.

Thanks.

Shit happens? Ahh, I get it. Because it's not your hard earned $4000 that went out into the amp right?

Let me guess, I take it that if your $4000 amp was defective in any way you wouldn't be so damn inconciderate. Unbeliaveble!

Well, I just want to say trust me I know how it feels (it's happened with other products) and Peter will take care of it. Unlike everyone else around here, I don't think you should relax or take it easy or forget about it or just say "shit happens". No, not with a $4000 amp it shouldn't. It's very dissapointing to be so exited about a product of this supposed quality only to find out something goes wrong with it.

My friend went thru the same thing with his Einstein and he won't be getting his either until god knows when but hey "shit happens". He had to go and buy another amp until the Einstein arrives.

At least the good thing is that Peter WILL talk to you and will make sure you get your confidence back with the amp. Just talk to Peter alone though..everyone else is insignificant when it comes to YOUR money that was spent (don't mean it in a bad way but it is what it is) and there's only 2 people that will help and set it straight. Peter and possibly Mr. Salwender.

I'm no ass kisser so I completely understand and you have the go ahead to go ballistic, bitch, kick, fight, explode  it's your right man and it was your money. Who the f#$K are we to tell you to relax or take it easy? It's easy to say that when it's not their money but just talk to Peter do yourself a favor.

I know it's not usually cool to go straight to the top guy but the chain of command usually fixes nothing until you get to the one who CAN make decisions.

Good luck man.

Hey thanks for understanding FCB.

I tried to keep my cool as much as possible... it is really Xmas and I do have that spirit andI don't want ruin it for everyone else. I know everyone is just trying to help but at the end of the day they weren't the one that is out of an amp... and not just any amp... $4,000 worth of amp.

I am doing everything that is ask of me. I replaced the fuse (all of them) and will put in six new power tubes ($150) that will be here maybe after Xmas as per the direction of Peter D. Unless there's another fuse somewhere I couldn't find, but after I put the power tubes in and if it's still the same way.... the only thing I can assume is a sour lemon (maybe due to shipping or something).

I had the choice of so many different amps to choose from. I ended up with the most expensive and what I thought to be superior to the rest... The funny thing is that the Herbert sat on top of a brand new Diezel 412R and hasn't been move at all. I never even gig with it. I've been using my Bogner Shiva until I was recently sold a week ago.

Thank you and Merry XMas!!!!

Hey man I dig 100%. I wish you a healthy Herbert man, I know that's all you're looking for now. :D I also hope it's a very small issue so you could feel good about the purchase. Peter should take care of you good though so you'll be alright.

Merry xMas to you and everyone else here! I'm going to start my feeding frenzy early this year.

You know man, I'm not really in the mood of throwing myself into an argument, looks like you're a very passionate person & you need to get it off your chest & that's cool, but I had many other things that happened in my life that were far more important than an amplifier that needs to be fixed. So yes - "Shit happens" in this case.

Hey people,

I started this thread to see if anyone has any ideas about what had happen to the amp. I'm just asking for help!

NBARTS, you made your point about shit happens and I left it at that. But remember one thing... what is far more important to you in life may not be important to me or others. And I'm not going to make anyone's day hell because of my problem. But for what I paid for the amp... Shit wasn't suppose to happen!!!! But it did... so just leave it at that. All I can do is just wait until everyone comes back from their holiday.

I appreciate all your helps here. Let's just keep on making music and not WAR ok! I've live thru too many wars in my life time. More like... survive many!

1. Are the tubes glowing ?
2. Please check the power amp and insert a cable in the serial return
Put a plug into the input first, then the mute relay will open the master.
Do You hear some signal coming from the power amp ?
Check all speaker outs.
3. If You can bias the power tubes You have plate voltage. So there
has to be a break in the preamp caused by a bad tube or bad
component.
4. Please contact Mike at mike (at) 65amps.com
Maybe he´s available during the holidays.
5. Where did You buy the amp and was the amp running when You got it ?
6. I need a report if the amp works again. We are interested in who or
what made the mistake.
7. Diezel amps ran for 24 hours and are tested several times. It don´t
depends on the price if there is something broken. We use best components
but there are working people on the amps, not machines.
8. You have full warranty and full support from my side. If I can do anymore
please let me know.
9. There are guys on the internet having a lot of fun if You have an expensive
amp that is not working. Don´t let them into Your soul, Your amp will work
soon again. We have about 3000 amps on the market working flawlessly.
If 5 of them having problems of several reasons You will hear that in 15 amp
forums and 100 people try to blame You and me. That´s the age of the
internet. Please stay cool, You are in best hands.

Peter
