 ok guys....I have just repeated the same problem only this time the volume drop was not as severe(probably because of the new tubes) , however very significant. PETER...please help, I play my Herbert every now and than and after the tube renewal I thought all was good but now even after allowing a cool down and restart the amp has a TOTALL drop in gain and volume in all channels!! I am so worried about my baby...please help me.

Is Papa back from holiday yet? I'm still having problems.

If you turn the amplifier off and back on, does the problem still exist?

Does an increase in the volume control change the level of volume when it is quiet?

Does it happen on all channels?

Do you have a POD or a line level audio device that you can plug directly into the effects return to see if the problem is localized to either the poweramp or the preamp?

Tubes are known for their ruggedness in shelf life but that is about it. Otherwise they are very inefficient :aww:

Even new tubes are not guaranteed to be in working order. Always have a few known working tubes to check against.

Preamp tubes should be changed every 3-5 years depending on nominal bias ratings of the amplifier design. Poweramp tubes should be replaced based on usage. If you're playing 4 hours a day, every day, then expect to replace worn tubes every 6-8 months. If you gig heavily and play many low end notes/chugs/divebombs/etc. Expect to replace tubes more often - as often as every 3 months - and be sure to keep a keen eye on the bias of the tubes more often. :)
