I had my heart set on a herbert but then i heard chad mosbey's recordings with the einstein. Killer absolute best hard rock sound i have ever heard imo. I have yet to find a herbert recording with the same sound/tone (close don't get me wrong). will somebody convince me that herbert can sound like the chad mosbey einstein.

It is very difficult to get any amp to sound exactly like a recording. I can't imagine you not liking the tone of any Diezel amp. They all sound great, are versatile and track well. It comes down to personal preference. I can assure you that once you get one you will end up with them all. You just need to pick which one you want to start with ;) :D

I just spoke to a Chad, actually it was a hanging Chad, or a pregnant Chad - I forget which one.

The Chad without further commotion highly recommended a

in this case.

Wow....tough choice. Herbert is such an amazing amp. I can only get one of them so I chose the Einstein for several reasons. I like the simplicity of it (not that the Herb is overly complex by any means....) it's the smaller footprint and lighter weight of the Einstein that grabbed me, not to mention the cheaper price. I needed something with a couple of channels and was 100 watts.

No regrets on the decision. It's a great amp for gigging with and fit into my budget nicely.

I will say that IMO...........I feel that the Einstein doesn't get the credit or respect that it deserves. It is a very very good amp at MANY things. The false idea that it can not get heavy or do Metal is simply not true. The cleans are absolutely wonderful and the harmonic overtones are breath-taking. I feel it is the most organic of the Diezel amps. It is simple and straight forward...the power amp and pre amp sections really do what they need to do when used in specific ways. This alone makes the amp unlike a lot of amps out there and far more versatile then it gets credit for. I think the Einstein is great!

Don't know what the hell is wrong with the metalheads man..... but the Einstein is AN AMAZING amp.

To me, the ONLY thing that doesn't let it compete 100% head to head with the herbert and vh4 is that the modes in ch1 are not footswitchable from factory, and with this really sets the Einstein versatility a lot lower than its to brothers. It doesn't have MIDI either, and that could be a little bit of a set back, but it's nothing that can't live with. but the 3 modes NEED to be footswitchable. I hope Peter once day solves this -issue-.

But to me the Einstein is AN AMAZING amp

Exactly why I find myself wanting one every time I have to move the Herbert. If you gig a lot you will appreciate the lighter weight.

man, I love the small chasis in the Einstein, but there's something weird....... my VH4 weights the or a bit LESS than my Einstein.

Why is that?

Thanks for the info guys! It may be the "organic" quality of the einstein that my ears like so much. I'm still undecided but thanks again for your responses.

I just recently got an Einstein and im very much pleased with it. I was also in the same dilemma as you are, choosing between the einstein and herbert. I think in the future i will get a herbert but the einstein is definately worth the money.

I like the voicing of the Einstein better. IMO it just sounds "right". I have played a Herbert pretty extensively and while I love it I just prefer the Einstein. Fits me better.

Fantastic amp.

im waiting on a new certain amp to make his appearance before i make my next diezel purchase :D

My VH4 is every bit as heavy or heavier than my Herbert. There must be something wrong with your VH4
