My avatar is a Russian GU81M tube used in the 1930's - 60's and in radio transmission towers to transmit 50Mhz carrier signals for amplitude modulated broadcasting systems. One tube is on average of 450W of output power at 50% capacity. My picture is just the heaters connected which requires about 120W of power - a very monstrous task due to the current that it draws. If you search ann landers, you will find posts about early designs and prototype jokes from Steve called the pizza oven amplifier
