It is slight but it is there. Might be good but might not also be what i want if i have changing volumes when using the koko vs. my bad monkey.
That was one of the things about the Koko that at first I didn't like. I wanted the boosted tone at the same volume. After some time it didn't bother me anymore.
Also, remember, there is no compression from the pedal. That compression is coming from your amp with a larger voltage swing hitting the grids.
I'm kind of surprised by the "cut" comment. I also felt the Koko added more cut than the BM, as the BM tended tio roll off some highs. I am with you on the BM though. I had it for a long time and it's a great pedal for the money.
Nope, I wanted it for straight up boosting.. that said, after putting a few days on it, it doesn't really bug that much anymore. It is almost like this pedal gives you a recorded tone if that makes any sense?? My guitar has more girth and it is just enough boost for me for rythms and leads. The compression being created also makes for leads that are less stiff and I dig that. I'm also really liking the mid boost now. Sometimes I wish both sides were mid boosts! good to have variety though. (although a koko boost "mid" edition would be bitching.. or switchable flat boost/mid boost on boost side)Think i'l keep the bad monkey around but for ease of playing/jamming live, the koko is probably all I really need.
As for trying an eq pedal, did that as well.. I felt I had a hard time dialing in a frequency I really liked and when I pumped the level some, I wasn't thrilled with it. Didn't sound bad but I preferred an SD-1 (which in itself is a great go to pedal if all else fails) That said I only tried a stock GE-7.
