Steve,

I put a thread about the amp on the metro site asking Nitro if this was in fact a jose mod. I just hope that someone doesnt out bid you now. Like and idiot,I didnt think about that before I posted the thread.

Ah... don't worry about it man - if somebody else wants it they can outbid me... I might just grab an old vertical input 2203 and have Carl do the mod in the Jose schematic that is floating around the Internet. I had Carl look at it already and it sounds like it could be pretty cool...

Cool!!

yeah, I think that Jose schem looks really cool!! Dan (whitesnake666) said that he was thinking about doing that mod on one of his amps!
Id love to hear it if you do go ahead with it!

I see a normal PPIMV, no post-CF master, no diodes, no extra tube.

Most of the Jose modded Marshalls I have seen thru the years had his "Arrco Electronics" silver/black sticker on the back metal panel of the amp.

Keith!

Im with you on that! That said, it looks as if there was a sticker peeled off of the back of the amp right where the Marshall info is.

All the best bro!

Ya, Ralphie... I see that it looks like something was peeled off, true enuff!

Based on what Olaf said the mod is just a straight PPIMV... Not what I consider a "Jose mod"...

Ahh i see! i just looked at the pictures and realised that.. then saw Olaf had said that too.

You still plannin on grabbin a Cameron Jose? I got this 81 JMP 2203 that has the Cameron HG and LG Jose mods, and individual EQ/Gain/Masters for each mod. And you can select the amp to be a stock plexi or stock JMP master too when the mod is disengaged. Its footswitchable too, so you can switch back and forth like you would with a channel switching amp

I have resigned myself to the fact that I am a complete failure at obtaining a Cameron and thus I am thinking about grabbing an early 80s vertical input JCM 800 2203 and doing this to it:

Sounds like it is very similar to the amp you just got...

Steve

Hey Steve that schematic is very similar to what is in John Sykes's Jose modded Marshall! Its basically a Superlead, with an extra tube added for more gain.. and the diode master too.

The one i got has a ton more features than that schematic though, and i pulled the chassis and theres no goop either :D Man it has possibly the cleanest looking mod wiring i have ever seen!!

Hmmm... according to Carl (fusionbear), this schematic turns a 2203 into a two channel amp - one higher gain, one lower gain and that you can use a switch to engage either channel or even run both together... You can see there is a master volume switch denoted...

Well i remember asking Mark Cameron a while ago and he just said to me that you have the bright and normal inputs, and you can use either one or both together and obviously theres the extra gain stages added via the tube. And also that master apparently allows you to switch to either the jose master, or the stock 2203 master i think...

Mark actually told me to just wire up the bright channel side of the mod and it should get close to the Sykes/Norum/Aldrich type tones! Im sure Carl will make it sound amazing though regardless, its definitly worth checking out man!!
