The decision to go with E tune on everything is going to bite Gibson's a$$ big time.
From what I understand there is no way to bypass the Etune system and then manually tune the strings.
So if the unit freaks out like all electronics can, or it just fails, or the battery dies while players are playing live Gibson is going to hear about it. There you are playing a show coming off your blistering ripping sole back to the chord progression and the Etune decides you want drop-D tuning instead of standard. Yeah, that pricey Gibson will sound fabulous.
Or, you need to do a quick retune for a different song and the mechanism decides to go belly up with no way to manually tune it.
The idea of the Etune seems cool, but not having a way to manually and directly tune is going to cause problems.
They should have designed a system so that the auto mechanism can be by passed.
Guitar tuner makers stock just went up cause I'll bet there will a good number of players removing the Etune.
