I believe alot hold back, just imo.

For obvious reasons that need not be said...

How many people who solicit help on (any) forum are getting responses that are 100% objective and are truly in their best interest? Not many in my view, they are always colored in some way.

Instead they are told what to buy based on what's popular on the forum, what they own or use, who they want you to support and gets the sale, etc.

In almost any forum people are funneled into a narrow range of choices that are "approved" by the community, even if those choices might not be the best solution for the person soliciting advice.

So, buyer beware.

Also lets not forget it's not always the builders that cause people to hold their opinions back, but the rabid fanboi's that can ruin open exchange by circling the wagons around anyone who's opinion they don't agree with.

So what you end up getting when asking questions is filtered opinions at best that don't paint the whole picture.

Like mentioned above I also advise using pm's to keep people off your back/find out the truth.

Yes I'm bored at work and this post took me right up to leaving for the day, lol.

Nah, I spill the beans. There's a certain moddler creator that sends me nasty PMs because I don't say his product is the greatest thing ever.

But it's not and I won't lie about it.

bullshit

Actually, I had a well known speaker businessman who frequents here and has his own subsection shit all over my WTB ad where I was looking for speakers shipped to me for $250. In a nutshell, he just kept on going on about how ridiculous it was to post the ad, that my price was ridiculous, I didn't let people know I was in Canada(it's under my avatar) etc..etc. I shit you not, he made no more than 20 posts rambling on about it. I started calling him a troll and posted pictures illustrating him as thus. Others were even chiming in on how they would never do business with him. To put the story in context, all of his posts were deleted from my thread that clearly painted him as an asshole.
So, no, people aren't honest about these smaller manufacturers and if anything does come out about them, even if they made themselves look like idiots, the posts are deleted and all record of the events are gone(well not really, I saved a screenshot :D ).

Is this a court cause I have some people that need to be sworn in.

I've had both reactions. I spoke positively about a company and I received a nice PM from the owner thanking me for my positive review. But I too have witnessed the opposite. They immediately become defensive. Instead-they should use the forums as a means to better customer service related relationships.

No. I didn't even know he made moddlers. Starts with an A and ends with an X. Great unit, but not the unit to slay all the tube amps around the world. At least for me. ;)

I would always want honest opinions if someone had a bad experience with my stuff. Can't fix the problems unless you know what they are.

That being said, I always posted in the Diezel forum saying that I 'loved' them, when in all honesty my Herbert was just as 'average' as any other amp I've played(tone wise). I think I was just trying to justify the cost when I owned it.

if theres something i dont like about a product im gonna let everyone know

I tell the truth. I have ranted about several "ibanez style" custom guitar builders who screwed me over. I've also praised folks (like Lee Garver over at GMW) who've given me good service. If I didn't like something I bought and I received good service, I'll just say it wasn't my thing rather than bag on the gear... Tone is subjective - someone else may love it...

To me, it is like a public service to out people who fuck people over...

Steve

I think you need to be honest with yourself when these men are providing you with services.

I do not trust anyone or any business with internet relations anymore.
I'd say there's 15% truth and the rest is complete bullshit hyped for my bro or
"I'm looking out for you, you look out for me" sales of brands of gear.
There's just too much room to get the shit angle of the deal.

Whatcha think Donbarzini??

Pfft....like anyone is 100% honest, how on earth would stuff keep on getting flipped so easily?

With many of the smaller manufacturers constantly lurking on all of the music forums all day long nowadays, I'm wondering how many men actually give their honest opinion whether it be related to the actual gear you purchased or the way you were treated.
First of all, I can't help but giggle at your liberal use of the word "men" in several of your posts.

Secondly, I'm honest, but I won't fling shit if not needed. If ya ain't got nuthin' good to say... You know, that whole chestnut   But that doesn't mean I won't speak my mind, I just won't continually grind away at someone with profanities and abuse ad nauseum for the hell of it. I'll say it like it is, let everyone else be their own judge, and move forward.

Peace,
V.

If I shared my gear aquisitions with Laura I might get served with a restraining order

I think the posting about gear can be worse than a damn spy novel.
Sometimes you lay it out. It is all true, no matter how true because this guy knows the so called reputable dealer/builder, and this guy knows the same, they try and post and override your honest info..... Like some higher power said they should protect the so called saint from builders/dealers land...... I will tell you this....
I keep copies of all info, billing, take digital pics, get other people to view inspect of examine stuff when it comes to me as sub standard BULLSHIT.....before I send it packing. then, I say nothing incriminating... Play wait and see...
What's is best is they stay quiet and we both move on as nobody ends up looking like scorned playmates, then if the builders/dealers do Fuck around :gethim: , there can be a total mid evil reputation fucking.... So far I have not had to do this yet bar one... :aww:
that sad amp builder Screwed over several guys from this forum. We torched him and got him banned on other forums to protect others from his scams.
So I helped Knock his dick in the dirt.... Yes, Don will want to have me post pics of the in the dirt part.... I refuse......  Sorry.....

I'm honest, but not to the extreme. If I think an amp is the worst sounding amp ever EVAR!...I just try to describe the sound/tone and then say it's not for me.

I believe in not posting my complete feelings towards a company if I don't agree with their business model or product.
I've learned it's a bad business practice to burn any bridges. You never know who you might need a favor from in the future.
Besides, my opinion most likely isn't worth bus fare to them anyway.

I also don't believe that just because we're members of a semi-private forum that we have the right to spout off whenever we want to like a 3 yr. old with a damaged frontal lobe.

Having said that, there are three "professionals" on this forum I refuse to do business with due to their lack of tact.
