Hot Rod Deluxe........................

Funny, I love the clean sound of a HR Deluxe, and especially love the 'verb. I just sold mine and kind of regret it.

I sold the Deluxe because I had the Mod50, but to be honest, I preferred my HR Deluxe to my T/D module. Also preferred the reverb in it. The problem was that the Deluxe was so loud that it was hard to use. It sounded best when turned up a bit, but at that volume, it was virtually unusable -- even for gigs in small venues! So, I am happy with the T/D, but still miss the HR Deluxe from time to time. It had a kind of shimmer to it that the T/D doesn't seem to have. I may change the preamp tubes in the T/D to see if I can improve it.

I wouldn't use the HR Deluxe as a back-up amp, though, because it's too heavy, and I'm a wimp. My Mod50 is heavy enough. At the moment, I don't take a back-up, but if I start doing so, it has to be something lighter. Maybe the new Vox nightrain head.

I had the Hot Rod Deville 4 x 10 several years back. I don't think it stands up to the Egnater, but I also kind of miss it sometimes. Fenders have a clean snap and a reverb that can't be beat. I didn't think the drive was that bad, but the Eggie sure eats it for lunch in that department.

That's cool,my buddy loves it,I played with it for a while and swapped major tubes and it did sound better with lower gain tubes in V1 but I thought the T/D just cleaned house but like I said "my buddy absolutely loves it"I didn't care for the V30 they had in it but I guess thats me.I love my Eggy
