I was in the hospital this weekend for being dehydrated (too much sun, caffeine, cocktails and hot jacuzzi). I was in the ER for 5 hours. Got to ask the nurses, docs and attendants about the COVID testing.
Results:
Swab up the nose, 70% accurate
Lab tests done on your blood: 50% accurate
The swab test comes back positive if you have the flu, pneumonia or COVID-19 as they are all in the same group that the test comes back positive for. So they group them all as COVID-19 because the symptoms are so similar, and they can't differentiate the differences.
This information is about 28 hours old.
I'll let you decide what you think is accurate for real COVID-19 cases from those percentages...but it's far less than what the media has been telling you.

It has been said that these tests are also picking up antibodies from either regular cold and flu as you state Jim and alot of the rapid tests being used are producing extremely large false positive tests, and alot of them have been allowed to bypass the FDA reuirements due to the emergency.

This Corona is real and the tests are pretty damn accurate (swabs and blood test) but the 5 minute test that Trump touts is what is not effective and that is why he tests 4 or more times a day

I've had the flu twice a year before, a couple of times during summer. There are 7 billion people on the planet, last time I checked. Not everyone has winter at the same time. I just referred to the swab and blood tests accuracy % as reported by the ER doctors at Sunday morning at 1:30 am. Who do you think sees a patient first when they have what they suspect is COVID-19? The hospital I was at has 404 staffed beds. They have one confirmed COVID-19 case. I really don't care what Trump tests with, maybe you do.
There are more confirmed flu deaths than COVID every year, at least so far. And with the testing results going on now, it might pass the flu, while a lot of it is the flu, pneumonia, etc and definitely not all COVID.
Before you try to engage me any further on this, do your research...or get dehydrated and get admitted like I did. Then ask the people working on you what's up.

True: Deaths from Covid is almost triple of the flu and that is using the highest flu death rate in the past 10 years.

I'm not the expert, the docs and nurses in the ER probably are, though. I'm relaying what I was told. Flu and pneumonia are being reported as COVID, as well as real COVID cases, that pumps up the numbers artificially, re-read my post. Emotion and conjecture...come on. I'm not doing either one, I just asked simple questions and they gave me the answers.

Didn't think you were kissing my butt, sir. I've listened to all angles about this for 5 months. But when I got dehydrated and had to hit the ER, I had the chance to ask the people in the front line personally. I don't do this for drama, investigative reporting, or anything else.
It's my guess that not many had the opportunity I had to get this information without it being filtered, reworded or watered down. I don't advise doing it the way I did it, but that's how it happened on Sunday morning @ 2 am PST.
The implications from this short discussion and the answers given are obvious, though...it's just that simple.
