How can one guy objectivly review all this ?

Demo / review whatever diction aside he's not doing all those videos & time for free. There's payola involved.
I think Pete is a class act and ive watched him for years. He recently did a video "can the JEL 50 cop plexi tones".
Immalike You gotta make a video about that ? Who's plexi / what year / what cab / what guitar yada.
Does a Friedman Marshall style amp sound like a Marshall. uh jah last time i checked. Thought that was settled Law.
It just seemed frivilous over the top Friedman marketing.
 
I enjoy his videos if it’s a piece of gear I’m interested in and if I’m working on a guitar or something I like to listen to his Sunday talks while I’m tinkering.
 
As others have mentioned, I look at him, and most other youtubers as guys who are paid to demonstrate gear. Hell, it gives me something to obsess about when I'm on the hunt for something new. My only thing with most of these guys is how good they are always able to make things sound, and by that I mean often they run everything through what seems like a bunch of outboard gear (and of course they are mucho-talented). I don't record at home, so I always look at things through the lens of using it live and/or at home with minimal processing. By the time I get something (take the newer Soldano X88ir for example) and either run it through my band's sound system or at home with a monitor / various FRFR speakers it sounds great, but not like the polished nearly album-ready stuff Thorn or Nielsen put out. I know complaining about the quality of demos is pretty stupid, but my point is that you have to take all these for what they are. Unless your tastes/needs/style aligns perfectly with one of these guys (which it won't) you cannot really count on objectvity unless they are talking about maybe features or something more factual rather than tone.

Personally, I like that I can search YouTube and most often can locate a reasonable demo for nearly anything out there.
 
He does great , simple videos without too much yapping, and seems chill from my interactions with him.
 
I like Pete a lot. I really dig his playing, he gets great tones and it's a really laid back approach the videos. He's first and foremost a gear nerd and tone chaser. He's not reviewing, he's demoing and has been pretty up front about how he never puts out a video if he doesn't like the product. He just sends it back to the company and politely declines making a video for them. Unlike a lot of YouTubers, he's first and foremost a sideman/touring professional with a hell of a resume. I'm sure he has more demo work offered to him than he has time to make, so he can be choosey about what videos he puts out.
 
I like what Pete does. He’ll be the first to tell you his channel is his job and he’s even talked openly about the whole process of getting paid to do demos, etc.

I like him because he’s been doing the job forever and really does know his stuff, and his showcases are better than pretty much everybody else’s because he seems to take the time to read and understand the manual of whatever he’s talking about and explain it more clearly than just about anybody on the platform. He’s also had his hands on just about every decent piece of gear out there so he’s good about talking about gear in the context of its competition.

He also personally took the time to help me troubleshoot a few things with my Suhr SL68 over the course of a day or so when I posted about it on TGP, so in my book he’s a solid dude.
 


Well im on the outside looking in and PT is in the know so it never hurts to ask questions for authenticity sake.
I have a pedal guy that restores / mods / builds from scratch and harvests some really cool hard to get vintage stuff.
I got a vintage 70's MXR Phase 100 he tweaked hung up in the mail cuz we aint had fuggin mail in a week cuz of snow.
If so many here vouce and enjoy PT's videos that good enough for me. Case closed.

He gets paid well to demo gear. The guy has consistently played with the biggest acts in the world. A lot of guys see him as a beacon of enlightenment in the charlatan’esque world of tone. What he demos sells. I myself am a purchaser of a pedal he demo’d. Turns out it’s an epic pedal.

Plus, the guy can schralp very hard. When he opens up the workshop and cuts it strict, watch out, the dude can blaze. Is he my favorite, no, but he does a good job showing what the pedal or gear is capable of. Plus, I’m fairly certain I saw him go into John petrucci world domination mode one time. I can’t say for sure, but for a brief second, something electric happened. He was able to hold it for maybe, a second and a half, whereas Petrucci can hold it open for as long as 30 seconds.
