How do you dial in your amp?

From right in front of the cab, or off to the side? or what?

Cause I find the tone is different depending on where you stand in the room. Right in front, about 10 ft it's really bright and a bit spikey, but off to the sides it's huge sounding but dark, hmm...

Currently, with the amp I've got, BMT and gain set to full blast, volume set around 2 oclock, let it ride! Its gonna be unpleasant in some spots, but overall as close to perfect as I've ever come. MXR Carbon Copy in front for Ca-Chunk, and that's all folks!

I want it to sound good standing right in front of the cab several feet back. If it can't sound good there, no one is going to want to listen to it.

In front for me. Cabs are always directional to some degree, so there will always be some give and take.

My current room can get pretty boomy, so it skews how I dial in amps when dialing them in off to the side. When I get it to sound tight and focused off to the side, it will sound too direct and narrow in front or under a mic. When I dial the amp in from in front there will always be a little boom left standing off to the side due to the nature of my room, but it will still sound good. However, it also sounds infinitely better in front of the cab and under a mic.

I like the tone from the sides and directional . So I them try to stand in front and get in more in line with what I hear on sides . I go back and goth until I find a balance I like

WHatever my ears are liking at the moment, and position of things.
