Option 2 and Option 1. Hearing a room mic of what it sounds like in someone else's room is pointless. It won't sound like that in my room. Ultimately Option 2 is the make or break for me as I want to actually make music with guitars and amps and that usually involves more than solo guitar. But I also understand there's a place for hearing a guitar by itself for some things for some people. I generally like Thorn's videos where he starts with an actual song and then spends some time explaining features and twirling knobs. If the actual song doesn't do much for me, I'll never listen to the other stuff, though.

Yeah the room mic is odd for me, but others dig it. Fair enough.

Pete does good stuff, one of my faves.

Someone actually used the term 'trickery' ?

Anyway ....
Just use all the methods and make them all public.

Your on the internet. No matter what you do including my example is going to piss off some people.

Yeah, more or less. It was from someone who claimed anything other than an iphone clip in no way represents 'what you hear in the room'.

Thanks again to all for chiming in with your thoughts

For judging amps?

No bullshit. No talking. No intro no nothing. No opinions. 0 production shittery in that regard.
The fact that you can afford the gear doesnt make your opinions valid.
So shut up, Turn on Selfie mode about ten feet away from the amp and hit record.
Oh, and so there is O GUITAR string noise, stand a proper distance away from the phone.
Turn your fuckin amp up loud and note the settings, tubes and guitar and pickup in the notes.

Basically an evem more trimmed down version of what Johan Segeborn does.
I do find his amp demos to be pretty killer.
