How dumb would this look? (Renegade 50 content)

So I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Renegade 50. I am going to buy the head and I haven't yet decided which cab configuration to go with. Here's the dilemma. The Tourmaster 2x12 cab sounds great but I'm 40 and ain't getting no younger. That thing is a beast, big, bulky and almost 70 lbs. Go ahead tell me to man up!! Anyway I was thinking about getting two 1x12 Eggie cabs. I would leave one at home for home practice and one at our practice space for band practice. For gigs I would bring both cabs and place them side by side with the Renegade 50 head centered on top of them. I suppose it would look silly if I went with the stacked 1x12's and put the head on top because the head is 26" wide and the 1x12 is only 19" wide. The head would overhang the cab by 3.5"on both sides.
This would probably look dumb huh? Thoughts?

Man up!!! The TM212 is worth it!!! Out of the cabs I have, it's the only one I wouldn't sell!  :D :m17:

Not to mention dangerous- That could easily fall over.

I'm with you on this dude! Don't listen to those other guys- easy to say, hard to do.

Except- I'm 51. Older than you! I lug a 4212 around. No easy task!

  :D      :aww: :m9:

hey Eric! how would you say weber blue dogs or Celestion blues would sound in the egnater 2x12?
would you think it might sound better than a stock Vox 212 extension cab?
I know obviously in going for the vox sound get a vox cab but you know how gear goes, like the VX module, whohoo.......

I have to say...all the speakers I've had in the TM212 have sounded good. I haven't tried blue dogs yet, but I couldn't seem them having issues.

I have to say...VX sounds good through the TM212!!! If you want that Vox sound...get the blues, and make it an open back cab. That's what I'd do. I think the cab is a bit more irrelevant. Blues through any good cab will sound more "voxy". But having said that, the combo I'm using w/ the TM212 is a killer one! I'll have to try the Blue Dogs in there soon ;)

I currently always carry a bogner os 2x12 but there are times that a smaller rig would be just fine. The renegade 50 is on my radar and I was thinking of maybe the 1x12 combo and an extension cab. Oh yea, man up! I'm 47... :D

That 1x12 Renegade 50 combo weighs 55 lbs. That's more than some 2x12 cabs. I will likely "man up" and buy the Eggie 2x12 cab but damn, 67 lbs. It hurts just thinking about it!

But you're ears are going to be happy you did!!!! I love my TM212. Best cab I own....next to my TM4x12 :)

Actually, I consider the Tourmaster 2x12 to be lighter than many other 2x12's. There are many other 2x12's out there that are much heavier.

Yea, it's not that heavey. I am 49, I've had back surgery, broke my collar bone 4 months ago in a crash, just broke both collar bones & a rib 2 weeks ago when I got rear ended by an 18 year old girl in her Mustang on my Harley Road King. I flew 50 feet. OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So quit your whinning. If I can hack it you can :D !!!

Ouch Stone! That's hardcore. I see you are OK. What about the bike...?

As far as the cab goes... I've had some Mesa 2x12 Cabs... Most are heavier than the Eggie 2x12. The one thing is, the Eggie is a bit bigger overall. But, still manageable.

Having 2 Rebel 1x12's will not give you the same sound. The Rebel 1x12's are built lighter.

Yep, I'm good. Apparently I'm tougher than i look.

So far the estimate is $12,120. Dang near totaled. Probably a little more therapy on the body. I just got done from the last mishap. :scared: It's not been a good year.

Any way back on topic, the TM 2X12 is so great. I couldn't stop playing it tonight. I really have my rig dialed in now. I can't wait to take it out and play again.

I'd love to! I put my Eminence GB12s in there and I gotta say those speakes just rock no matter what the cab. They are extra awesoem in the TM 2X12. It's just a fantastic sounding box, and beautiful too.

Glad you're doing okay man.

Let me know if you need any speakers. I'm selling like 17 of mine!!! :) Glad you got your speakers changed too btw!!!

Thanks. I'm pretty happy. I am a gear whore & like the rest of us, I have GAS. But I have to say this too. There is a part of me that actually does want to find the spot where I stop and just play. I am very, very close. I still have an infatuation with speakers and pedals. Obviously Egnater has cured the amp part of the deal. But I still want to check out a Freidman mod (or two) on my modules, so that is next. I have a call in to do the Custom 45. I would still love to check out some Alnico speakers, some Austin Speaker Works, Scums etc. but they are so expensive it makes it hard for me to pull the trigger. I keep thinking there are better pedals too, but my BB just keeps getting it done with such elegance. I wouldn't mind putting that set of Motor City Black Belt A5 slight overwinds in my LP too. These are all small tweaks in the big scheme of things. I'd say all in all I am very happy with the sound I am getting right now. Slow, small changes and experiments are where it's at for me.

Oh and thanks for the well wishes (again :aww: ) ... the X-rays looked good yesterday. Bones are healing up fast. I should be back to normal late June to early July. In case any one is wondering, yes it was absolutely terrifying to get hit, fly throught the air 45 feet, smack the pavement & crack some bones. The worst of it was knowing that this was happening to my wife behind me who is precious cargo. It's amazing how many things can go through your mind in just a few seconds. I was very concerned for her. She's okay too, skinned up knees, ruined a nice pair of jeans and she will be hurting for a while. When I heard the sound of the bike and the wreckage coming up behind me it was not cool. I thought "here it comes, this is probably it for me". I am still here and was again relatively unharmed. I am well attened to by my Angels is all I can say. Truly blessed to still be alive.

Now the part that I know some will not understand. I can't wait to get my bike back. I miss is it and to me it is on equal footing with creating music and playing live. There is just nothing else that takes it's place and I can't live without it just like I can't live without my MOD 50  .

This is basically where I am at. I dont really GAS for anything anymore. I love all my modules, dont really need any mods to them. Love all my guitars, though I may dump my PRS and get a Tele one of these days if I can find the right one. Id love a Suhr tele but dont really want to spend that kind of cash right now.

Tommy man, you need to stay off the roads! Jesus Christ! Best of luck for a speedy recovery (again)! ;)
