How many of you prefer SCUMBACK speakers to all else?

I am getting sick and tired of the speaker swapping and think I might just end this madness with all Scumbacks.

Right now I have a little of eveyrthing Celestion, CL80s, K-100s, G12-65s...

So tell me why you use or prefer Scumbacks?

Small cap/large cap? Which do you find smoother? Richer? Warmer? More vintage?

I used them once and should have stuck to it.....

I use them. Two Bogner cabs loaded with M75/H75 25watt speakers, regular dust caps, I think. I doubt seriously that I could tell much difference in the Celestion speaker they replicate, since I am tone deaf and don't know shit about tone. But, I would rather do business with Jim and give him my money for his service and get to wind him up from time to time, rather than giving it to Guitar Center for some Chinese Celestion speakers. :D

I do find the 65 watt version of these speakers very tight, which is why I went to the 25's in the 412 cabs. They are getting fucking tested now for sure with the SLO!

I did the Scumback dance but i actually got tired of swapping around as well. The M75's are dark, and the the H75's are really bright. RIght now I'm borrowing a Bogner 4x12 loaded with V30's and it's one of the best, if not THE best, cabinets I've ever heard. And yup, loaded with V30's and I wouldn't touch a thing with this cab. I even prefer it to some old Marshall 4x12's I've had.

If you're swapping speakers in and out of 2x12's I think the 2x12 is actually the problem. A good 4x12 will probably cure your ill.

I have the M75/J75 mix in my 412 and 212 and am very happy with the tone.

I am a Scumback player. I have the 65 watt M75 & H75's in my main Bogner Cab. They are my favorite speakers to date. Check out the clip in my signature for an example.

I do have the Heritage EVH's in my Bogner slant and they sound great as well.....but they don't have the magic of the Scumback IMHO. It's all a matter of what you dig.

Looking forward to checking out the new Scumback blackback speaker as well.

Scumbacks all the way. I've got the M75/H75 combo in my Bogner cab, all M75's in my Marshall, and J75's in my Avatar 2x12. All are 65w. :D

Depends really on what sound you are after. Jim has nailed the vintage Celestion sound, and if that is what you are after, you can't beat Scumbacks.

I prefer H55/M75 combos in 4x12s myself.

I tried H75's and J75's and they eventually got swapped out like everything else. Honestly, I think they are overhyped. Not bad, but nothing "special". I've tried just about every speaker imaginable and my top 3 are Vintage 30's, Eminence Private Jacks, and Heritage Greenbacks (in no order).

I've got an OS 2x12 loaded with 65w M75's and like them a lot. My 4x12 has 25w greenbacks, but I plan to switch them out soon a quad of the M75's.

I have one of Jim's 4x12 cabs with 65W M75s, and a Swanson 2X12 with 100W M75s. Scumback speakers rule. End the madness and give Jim a call!!!

I've got a Blackstar Artisan 2x12 M75's and it rules. Now just rounding up the $$$ to put at least 2 more in my Wizard quad. I'm almost afraid of how good that will sound with 4. And Jim's an absolute champion to deal with.

My TM2X12 has M75 LHDC (large cap) watt 65 watts and my 1X12 has a regular M75 100 watt. I like the LHDC's a touch better. Slightly more bottom and sounds wider or something. Could be the bigger cab too I guess.

If the V30 tone is what trips your trigger, then you certainly don't need to look at Scumbacks. Jim doesn't advertise having anything to rival a V30. And, I am not whipping on V30's as they are time tested, great speaker in many applications. BUT.....if it is Vintage Greenbacks, H30's or those types of tone you are after, then by all means Scumback speakers should be considered. And, they are cheaper than the UK versions and not much more than the Chink versions. Plus, Jim and I discuss cleavage, titty slaps, and other sundry crap.

Are we saying 'chink' now? Because I've been sitting on 'fanny bandit,' and now I feel silly.

Yeah, I am also a recent convert to Scumbacks, thanks to Paul and Todd. Had a chance to hear some larger dustcap versions last week, and did not like them as much as the normal versions. The larger cap versions were not bad at all, just not as incredible sounding as the H75 / M75 combination, that I have found that I prefer. GREAT SPEAKERS

I have that combo in a 4x12 as well and I also own an EVH cab. Both cabs are my favorite cabs of those I own.

Have not tried them out but I am quite happy with UK made greenbacks, been using them in cabs since I was a teenager. Tried and true

I have H55/H75LHDC in 2 Mills cabs. Way better than the v30/K100 combo that was in there before. Killer modern tone. I have a Scumback made cab (for sale in the classifieds - unloaded) with M75s. That sounded pretty killer two. Much more vintage toned and darker than my Mills cabs.
