How often do you discard picks?

So the other day I was like why the hell is my playing so shitty? Then I took notice of the pick I was using. Somehow it didn't get lost, I kept on picking it up out the stack and wore it the fuck down. Switched to a fresh pick and all was better.

Worn pick compared to one of the same shape when new.

@griff10672 what kind of picks do you send as freebees with pedals? I really like them for playing bass.

I actually stopped ordering them to give away ..... every Used Pedal ad of mine I see everyone still has the picks in the little bag .... so now it's just Fridge Magnets .... lol

but I was getting them from Claytons Custom Picks ....

Reminds me of the before/after state of my underwear

I've for sure been using the picks I got with my pedals. They're a little thick for my preference with guitar, but are just right when I use them for bass.
And fridge magnets are awesome! I have some Griffin magnets displayed on my mini fridge.

I have tons. I hardly ever lose them when they get dull I sharpen them by ripping them across the carpet a few times. Good as new.

I use a thick brick pick. Dunlop white tortex sharps. So thick that the are squared off on the sides. As soon as that edge is worn down, I toss them. I love that "scrape"!

NNNEEEVVVEEERRR (never) ... I use metal picks so they never wear at all (I do lose them a lot though haha

I have no idea. When I lose them I suppose. When I was gigging regularly my wife cleaned the trap in the washer and found about 20.

Kind of embarrassed to say I grab a new one pretty much every time I pick up the guitar

I like wearing them down. I just rub them in the carpet a bit to get the edge back and good to go.

If I’m tracking, switch to a fresh one every couple of hours. New feels crispy 👍🏼

A sharp tip is a must for me . And when playing tech thrash metal or whatever I might need a new pick every song . Or every 2 songs.
But a pick can last me a day of practice on my own if not playing full songs

The Winspear picks I use seem to never dull. I can’t say I have ever remember throwing any out in the 10 years or so I’ve used them.

Edit: I have not used the se pick for 10 years, I’ll pick up a different one from time to time, but I have used the same main pick the last couple years.
