Just wondering if anyone had any first hand experience with both?

Mostly concerned with sound quality/signal loss

I've had both. Currently have the headrush. It is much easier to get good tones out of than the helix IMO. The helix can sound good, but it takes a lot more work it seems. The headrush is also a lot easier to adjust on the fly during a live show.

Edit: For some reason I thought the OP asked about the Helix instead of the HX Effects. I've never used the HF Effects.

I have 2 x HXFX. One of them runs in 4CM with my BE-50 and the other one I have on my board that is my backup and that I use for rehearsals. Fantastic and easy to use units. FX sounds great!

That's a slightly apples to oranges comparison. I have tried the Helix floor and I own the Gigboard. I bought the Gigboard because of size and cost considerations and ease of use. I have it set up so that I have a group of patches for headphone use and the rest of the time it is used 4 cable method with my 6505 or power amp into my cab.

If I was just using it for effects the HX effects would probably be a better choice as it has way more variety and some of the effects may be better. The amp modeling in the Gigboard is really good and the HX doesn't have that.

The most direct comparison in the Headrush and Line 6 lines would be the Helix Stomp and Gigboard. I found that the Helix stomp had a few limitations that would compromise it for my use so I went with the Gigboard and I'm really happy with it so far.

Thanks for the responses. I should have mentioned that I was more interested in the quality of the effects. I know the gig-board has modeling and wasn't sure if it was worth the investment with no intention of using the modeling.

If you have no intention of using the modelling at all, the HX effects is an excellent choice, it's ins and outs are a little more flexible, controls are probably a little more adaptable (more footswitches) and there is definitely more options for effects. Quality wise, the effects are significantly better than the M9 I was using for a couple of years before getting the Gigboard.
