Differences aside, which one is better for Classic rock/80s Hard Rock tones in terms of feel and quality? I'm thinking about a single pedal board rig. The Line 6 would be used with a Quilter Microblock 45 for power. Cab is a 1x12 with a Neo Creamback. Not interested in running direct at the moment. Just an easy pick up an go setup for jams. I have plenty of pedals to use with the Amp1 as well for effects.

I think both are great. With the Stomp you won't need additional effects.

I have both, and have directly compared the Stomp using a PowerStage 170 against the Amp1, and the Amp1 simply blows away the Stomp in terms of feel, tone, and volume. If I were you, the Amp1 paired with effects of your choice, or maybe grab the HX FX would cover everything you need. Grab an overdrive or two for boosting purposes. The Amp1 is the real deal, impressive little unit. The best 'backup' amp I've ever put money in, and being no frills, no menus, etc make it appealing to me. I did most of my band practices through the Covid times with the Amp1 because I didn't care to lug my larger amps around (our practice space has a long narrow stairwell). It's got the volume output of about a 50w Marshall.

Thanks! That helps point me in the right direction.

? Sorry, not sure what you mean
Oh, I've never had the stomp, but I do have an HXFX, and it is a great pair with the amp1...so I was suggesting to get an Amp1 and the HXFX, or I hear that individual pedals work well with the Amp1 also.

The new hx stomp xl is sooooo soo good, I liked the hx fx but there is in impedance issue in 4cm that they fixed with the new stomp, it’s really the perfect addition to a high gain amplifier that doesn’t have a clean channel, in 4cm you can bypass the preamp and use cleans into the return of the loop, good fun.

Can you be more specific? I'm currently using the Stomp with a PS170. But I'm very intrigued by the Amp1. I mostly use the Badonk or the Placater models in the Stomp.

Is it a dynamics thing with the Amp1? More clarity? Organic?

I like the modded Marshall vibe of the Mercury, but also need the tightness of the Iridium. I'm also very eager to see the Amp X when that hits the streets. I think that will incorporate both.

The HXStomp is a fraction of the cost of the "big boys" and sounds about as good as anything after a bit of tweaking or loading in your own ir.
The Podgo is also a cheaper option.

EDIT. Just watched some Amp1 videos! COOL STUFF. When is the AmpX coming out? I mean wow! 100 watts in that small a package and it sounds HUGE from the videos.
