I am an asshole (SD-1 content)

I don't have a SD-1 anymore. But do have a Fulltone Full-Drive3 and Full-Drive2 V2.
Both derived from the SD-1.

Something in the SD-1 family with a HPF and LPF would be interesting. I wish all overdrive pedals had both and a clean blend control.

Was comparing my old SD1 with the just arrived Nobels ODR1 30th and was surprised I preferred the Nobels. The Nobels was very clear sounding in comparison.
The Nobels is very different. The gain comes on much more gradually, and it's overall much smoother than the SD-1. If I was using a clean amp, and a pedal for overdrive, the Nobels would be a great choice because it's much more versatile than the SD-1.

I own/owned a lot of boosts, but my favorite has always been the MXR Badass OD. I believe that's an SD-1 with a 100hz knob to bring back in some lows, and an alternative mode that boosts the low mids.

The custom modified badass OD. I’ve been using that one also , in front of my SLO 30. The 100hz is the ticket to dial the lows back in and still keep it tight

I don't know if anyone of you has experience with the Boss OD-3, but it does pretty well as an SD-1 alternative as a boost (has more volume/output on tap), and it smokes the SD-1 when you use it as a low-gain stand-alone overdrive in a clean channel. The OD-3 sounds more natural and not as bass-shy (with the Tone knob neutral).

Of course, I still keep my MIJ SD-1 around just in case.
But ever since I modded a DOD 250 some 20 years ago, that has been my go-to boost.
After the mods, it has more output and less fizzy crunch and I added a low-cut toggle switch as a sort of Tight switch. Quite useful with humbuckers, since I beefed up the stock circuit to work better with Strats, but with a Les Paul, that added 'beef' gets in the way for high gain boosting.
Compared to a TS-9, the SD-1 already is more open-sounding/less congested mids, but my DOD 250 takes that even further. But there's a time and place for the TS-9 as well as the mids sit in a certain way that works well for leads more than rhythm IMO.
