I don’t know if they still have the same practice and studio spot they used to, but it’s close to me. I will drive by in the next day or two and see if they still have the spot. I heard they bought the record plant in Sausalito so they could have moved in there? I can definitely get you an address over the next couple days.
I’ve also got an address that it could be forwarded to and given the love that it so deserves.

Whether it lands in their hands or not..... hats off to you for building some incredible instruments with what seems like some legit passion and love. You've definitely, at the least, got your name out there and gained some traction for your builds. Get some of your guitars in the hands of a few good reviewers/players..... you could be the next Ken Lawrence of this new day and age. Cheers

Is that your rig in your avatar?

Paul... I wish :)... tho I would have an LP in there and not a strat. That is Joe Holmes' rig from years back...love that dudes playing and mojo. A pic of my rig wouldn't be nearly as cool...or loud.. Landry LS30 atop a 2x12 with Les Paul R0... not complaining tho. Cheers

Isn't Dave Mustaine, Metallica? Send it to him me.

Spalted Maple top....beautiful finish work.

People don't consider the cost of what really good exotic lumber is.
Labor of Love for sure.

"In 2015 I built a guitar specifically for James Hetfield which I sent it to the Metclub, where it remained for 3 years, after which, it was returned to me. I did not receive information with regards to whether James knew about this or not."
This is so fucking sad...

Thank you guys for your appreciation, you are awesome!

15 years ago I became a luthier out of the desire to build and see in the spotlight, a guitar for Metallica, being a big fan. I realized that this is never possible, but every guitar I finish, takes me with my soul to Metallica.

If I'm allowed, I can post more interesting things I've done in these years.
I also post a lot in this group: https://facebook.com/groups/116705331814530

Go nuts, post up your work!

WOW, WHAT A BEAUTIFUL INSTRUMENT !! (y)

It sounds like he sent it to METCLUB (fan club), and they hung on to it for 3 years, and then returned it......

I am sure that they have fans trying to give them things all the time....but THIS.....this is not a 2-3 day project of someone making a doll or drawing a picture, to gift to them. This obviously took a very long time to build, and someone at METCLUB certainly had a chance to tell James about it. Disgusting that they probably just set it in a corner for 3 years, and then sent it back.

Not a fan of how they handled this......
Flip side if the coin is- some kid intern who thinks he works for “some oldies group” and has no idea about guitars probably sorts this shit. Its not like metallicas techs are combing the mail looking for new build guitars. Probably sat amongst guitars people sent in to be signed.

Hello guys, I built this guitar to give it to Metallica as a gift, as an appreciation for the inspiration offered as a luthier, for many years. Unfortunately, I could not contact the band to get their agreement to send the guitar. How do you like it?

If you truly want to give a gift to someone, a dude with 100’s of guitars and a sizeable bank account is the worst possible choice.

‘Gifts’, no matter how cool they may be are usually a liability for celebs. Give it to someone that will love and cherish it - and can’t afford it. That’s a real gift.

Came here to say the same. Why spend your time and energy building a beautiful guitar to give to someone who gets free stuff all the time? You're never going to see them play it. Endorsements eliminate that possibility.

I think the Ken Lawrence explorer was what urged the op to send the guitar...

And I dont blame him...
