I just lost my faith in Slayer…

I thought they were a lame, boring band. By far the worst sounding major band in the thrash genre. I didn't like their music and the satanic imagery was cheesy.

They definitely don’t workshop the same . Catholics pray to Mary and saints while Christians are offended by these things . I was forced to do both at times .It was confusing to me as a kid

Respectfully, not all prayer is worship. I recommend reading the early church history and the church fathers. The early church didn't worship like protestants have for the past 500 years. Not even close.

Back in the 1800's, it was "The devil's in the fiddle."

In the 1950's Rock and roll was "the devil's music"

In the 1980's, Metal was "the devil's music"

Then, hip hop and rap became "the devil's music"

Now, AI will create "the devil's music".

Same scare tactic, different boogeymen. Rinse and repeat.

Edit: That "Bro country" shit IS "the devils music". LOL

Exactly. If you base your religious or philosophical beliefs on what a metal band is preaching, you’re a gullible automaton. And if it wasn’t metal, it’d be something else.
I really feel for a lot of these guys being influenced by 80s metal singers lyrics like this. You don't even want to know what they started doing after listening to all those Judas Priest albums.

You think that's confusing? Imagine being an alter boy, being served large communion wafers by the priest (hands free, by the way), shish kabob style if you catch my drift. "Eat your way to forgiveness my famished child" are the words that shall haunt those poor souls forever...

I'm Orthodox Christian but I listen to quite a few bands with shock "Satanic" imagery. At the end of the day most cases are just shock value inspired by classical horror, anyone who's well discerning shouldn't let their faith be attacked by it.

I’m not saying they shouldn’t exist, just a weird vibe to me. I’ve seen White and Rob Zombie multiple times…for some reason Slayer seems more ‘serious’ about the whole act to me. And that tends to draw fans serious about that act and those aren’t people I want to hang with. To each their own—I draw the line with Nazis and Satan. But rock on, I’m far from offended

I’m far from offended too. If only people would treat regular people the same way, without the cancel culture that’s become the norm nowadays, I would be a happy clam.

I am just pointing out the dichotomy here.

I mean, what the hell? Slayer is a Christian band?

Hey, have you guys heard this Australian Christian metal band? Kicks ass in my humble opinion. Lyrics remind me of Slayer somewhat, they’re quite different from what you would read in the Bible. But still, God-fearing, God-loving. I respect that.

Pretty good stuff. But Slayer being Slayer, it’s good to know they have been banned by the church.

For the record, I read an article which said King was a member of the Church of Satan, I can’t find it anymore. It’s a conspiracy lol ?

It’s been erased, but in the article, King described Satan as “a force of nature”.

As I said, a cover up.

By your analogy, Tom also secretly wants to fuck dead women.

Meh, I'll pass. If I'm going to read a fairy tale, I'll re-read some of the pm's I get from Monkey Man and Jackbootedthug about how manly and handsome they are. It's far more believable than any "religion ".

Not to get too into debate territory but even the Bible itself mentions the intercessions of saints. But yeah, some of the earliest surviving texts of prayers are for the intercessions of the Virgin Mary.
