What is 2FA enabled? Not sure what’s up.
Thanks

Go to Your Account (settings)-->Password and Security. Right up top will be "Two Step Verification". Click it to enable and fill in your passwords. It may take a couple hours to go through.
I am confused ? I tried to do it but I don't think i did it right.

It emailed me a varification code and I put it in and it gave me a list to save, I'm confused. I still don't think it is updated.
Can you help? Thanks

If it verified, you should be good. It is taking some people up to 3 hours to start working, just give it some time and if it doesn't work, let us know.

How do i know if it Verified, Any way you can check it ? Thanks

I can't check it, we can't access your account. But if you go to passwords/security the box should say "enabled". Do you see that?
Yes it does say enabled. But now when i log in it asks me for a varification code and it says it will for the next 30 days ?

Yes, put the code in it sent you. You will just have to put in a verification code ever 30 days. I am getting on a boat in the river and won't have any reception for a bit, if you have any other questions PM me and I will get back to you, or message @nero or @Monkey Man

So as long as i am a member of this forum i have to put in a varification code every 30 days ? What happens when i use all the codes it gave me ?
How do I get new ones? Why make this do difficult ?

I hope I don’t have troubles. I’m looking to sell some cool shit. Waiting for my verification. Ugh.

Yes, it will ask you to reverify every 30 days, but it will email you a code to put in there. When the 30 days is up, the forum will kick you out and upon the next time you try to come to the forum, you'll get the message that a code has been emailed to you. Enter the code, you're good for another 30 days. AFAIK, the codes you received when you signed up are just "backup" codes in case you aren't able to verify with the emailed code. Honestly, I don't think I even kept the "backup" codes when they were sent to me.

The idea behind the two factor is that if anyone else tries to sign in as you, even if they have your password, they would still need to have access to your email to get the 2FA code that will be sent when they try to log in. That's why they call it "two factor". Both email and code are needed to get in.

I use Google Authenticator app on my phone for the 2FA here.

I will check it out later. I logged out and logged back in after I enabled 2FA.

Don't use that list of codes you were sent, save those somewhere safe. Like someone else mentioned, they're backup codes. Every 30 days when you do the 2FA (two-factor authentication) you'll get a single new code, and input that.

If you ever lose access to your 2FA method (locked out of email, lose phone with authenticator app, etc.) then you'd use one of the backup codes to log in to RT. Presumably you'd then set up a new method of 2FA at that point in time to replace the old method you lost access to.

Why make this do difficult ?
Scam prevention. Apparently there has been issues with people's accounts getting stolen because they used the same password for RT as they did for something else. That "something else" has data stolen by scammers, and then the scammers go around trying the email and password combos they stole everywhere they can since people often re-use passwords. Requiring 2FA makes it so that to get into your RT account, the scammers now need your email, password and access to your 2FA method. If your 2FA method is email, they need access to your email account (which hopefully has a different password than the one you used for RT), or if you're using a phone app then they need access to your phone, etc.
