I remember reading awhile back that they intentionally kept Damageplan’s debut album radio friendly for good exposure, but after that they were gonna go Pantera level heavy.Have to say that Zakk is killing it in Pantera from all the videos I've seen. I'd rather hear his interpretation of Dime's songs than someone else try to do a carbon copy of the recordings. Not that it wouldn't be cool to see Wes Hauch have a shot, but Zakk is such an experienced live player by comparison. He's been great at every show I've attended with Ozzy, BLS, Zakk Sabbath, etc.
I saw Damageplan in 2004 and Down in 2006 or 2007. Down was pretty album dreadful, to be honest. Damageplan was a very underrated band at the time. I feel like that debut album didn't review well at the time because people just wanted Pantera back, but in hindsight Dime has some great playing on that album. When Dime died, we not only lost out on Pantera but what Damageplan could've grown into, too.

Except for that song. HahahahahaaNothing says radio friendly like titling a song 'F**k You' and screaming it 34 times in a 3-minute song![]()
Saw the REAL Pantera Ozzfest 2000 here in Dallas, followed by Ozzy w/Joe Holmes. Next year, Pantera, Morbid Angel and Soulfly. Followed by Pantera with Slayer the next. Some dude with a pink beard really tore it up on guitar back then!
That must've been an incredible show. Joe Holmes is criminally underrated.
