I think I found my next non ES guitar purchase....

I been looking at SG type guitars recently, especially the ESP Vipers. Anyway, some rotten forum members sent me PM's talking Yamaha guitars in general recently and one of them began ruthlessly tormenting me with a line of Yamaha "SG's" that I had not really given much thought to. So I made the mistake of searching around Reverb. Doggone it. I think I found my next non-gigging non-ES instrument. More sustain and bite than a Les Paul. I realized Santana was using these for a while during a great time in his career. So now I have major GAS again and it ain't the Native Texan beer I was drinking last night that caused it. Anybody got that Yamaha SG love out there? Tell me all you know or tell me a Gibson or a Viper or something else is a better guitar. Blessings on a beautiful Saturday morning. I hope you, the reader, are well today! I present the Yamaha SBG3000:

Oooh damn that looks nice. You're screwed, better start adding some gigs.
That's gonna be the one and white too. I gigged last night in my own town for the first time in a couple years and it went well. I hope to get a regular date out of the venue in the coming year, that'd be a good start. Maybe run a blues jam or weekly residency would be great. Do that for one year and bam, next Christmas you'll be seeing my NGD....

They call this thing the "Les Paul killer". Right now it's the VonBonfire killer cause I gotta pay property taxes, which is about the same amount as I could find one of these bad boys for. Maybe if I can get a local CL deal I could probably land it for sub 2k. I'ma keep my eyes peeled.

Nice PRS!

Here's the SG700, a more affordable model in the series, demoed against a Les Paul. Pretty impressive tone!!!

Here’s my SG since you brought them . It’s my only 6 string . I play rock blues and even jazz like Pat martino did . It’s 93 standard
Here's the video that got me thinking about SG's. Not the highest quality but the guitar sounds really good and articulate. Seems like a hybrid SG shape/Les Paul thickness combo just makes sense. I been really loving my Paul copy and the Yamaha just seems like even more LP type goodness and a vintage top of the line model is less than a new Standard. Win-win.

I love this guy's playing and singing. He would fill in for Warren Haynes with the Allman Bros on occasion. Master blues player right here:

the white is nice; my Les Paul killer are my Ibanez PS10 guitars, wish they'd do an artic / snow white PS10!

that said, after getting a better than expected Gibson '61 SG Standard in white with '61 burstbuckers @ 15% off, I had to get the Epi 1963 SG Les Paul @ 15% off to stop my Gibson SG LP GAS.

That Gibson 1963 SG LP Custom in white is haunting me, though the $6,699 price tag even with 15% off is a line I'm not prepared to cross...at that price there are many options.

Have a look at the Ibanez AR420; $649.99 new...there are still a few transparent blue gradation, or the newer Violin Sunburst

That's what I love about you rsm, you're never negative about blowing cash on sweet gear, you just make things worse for a broke blues player like me, lol.

The Ibanez Artist series were brought up over and over in those PM's that previously mentioned forum members were tormenting me with. I'm just liking the top of the line vintage yamaha for comparatively sane pricing. Sleeper guitars are my favorites. My childhood guitar instructor had a vintage Artist kinda like those newer models you posted here. He tried to move to LP's, the MM EVH, and a couple others but he kept coming back to that guitar cause it was such a great player...

Could always shop some lightly used models and probably knock a couple grand off that price.

Just discussing options, so you can assess what is the best course of action at the current moment. :D Nothing worse in gear shopping than to buy something only to discover something better I would have bought instead if I had known about it.

Those Yamaha guitars are very good, and people that love them, really seem to love them. I'd have an AR but they have some of the same features as my PS - dual humbucker, toggle switch location, abalone binding, MOP/abalone fret markers, tailpiece/bridge,...

I've come this close to pulling the trigger on a couple different Yamahas at two different times but other stuff popped up when the models I was very interested in weren't available at sane pricing. SA2200 and their sunburst jazzbox, 1500 or something. I think I have found my next candidate. Probably be a year of saving some cash unless I have a great gigging season next spring/summer.....

Really cool shit !

My first real guitar was an Ibanez SBG500. Was a freaking hammer. I was a fool to sell but I wanted my fender e series strat. Still have it. Anyway. I had an SG700 for sale from an estate but it’s gone now. Great guitar. I have too many to acquire 60 new ones. Slowly the estate is selling
