My advice, stay away from reverb circuits until you get more familiar with noise and where it comes from. I'm guessing it has 6L6s poweramp and 6sn7s in the pre.

If you're not happy with the original tone, you could redo it to an original Fender Delux or Bassman. May as well stick to octal based preamp tubes.

Look forward to your next pics!

Looked thru the pics and didn't find any better angles of that paper cap. I'll have to take some new gut pics and post them.

A deluxe or a bassman would be killer. I can't imagine this amp being a deluxe though. Arent those 22watts? The transformers on this thing are monstrous. Anyway, nonreverb warm punchy clean tone would be very nice.

Cool.
Ya the Delux had 2x6V6, they may have over rated it at 22watt, but mine tested 16.5 RMS. Anywho, you could stick to 6L6, and use the Delux preamp circuit. But the Bassman would offer you more gain. If it is warm and clean you really want, and if my guess is right about it being an early Gibson, well you may just want to keep it stock. Early Gibsons were all about clean and warm, IMO.

Well maybe I should not have abbreviated "OB" = outboard.
Ya know, like Fender made years ago, and many others today. Me too, I guess, LOL.

And, any special reason you're using true PTP(and again, very well done!) and terminal strips on all the new stuff you've been posting here recently?

Questions, questions, hope you don't mind :)

Yes, I love building more old school these days, and with the layout there's far less wire and better grounding. These amps sound amazing, and I'm really getting into the whole compact concept. Besides that, I have a ton of these small chassis laying around and transformers all over the place.
Plus they look cool.

Well your true PTP looks as good as any I have ever seen!

Good stuff, and goodnight

A few more Dumbles. One with goop:
dumble_80a.jpg

And one without:
dumble_77.jpg

Bonus pic, guts of the worlds smallest super lead:
VAC004.jpg

Sorry, it's another one of mine, 4 preamp stages feeding a 1wt poweramp. No tone stack, but it's a one trick pony. EVH distortion @ extremely low volume. Plus a compensated slave out to drive a bigger poweramp, if the need be :)

Why does that bottom pic look like fab built it?

LOL, I thought you knew. Funny the first pic(or the second, the one of the OB Reverb, it says Fabamps right on it) in this thread of one of mine didn't have the same effect :)

That smallest superlead looks about teh same size as a Epiphone Valve Jr Head...
Which I have a JCM800(ish) circuit in mine.

Technically, it's an AX84 with a couple tweaks, which, is a JCM 800 preamp with a couple tweaks...

Hey fab you mcfuckin idiot are those pics mark cameron modded marshalls?

Ha, the Epi don't sound nothin' like it, and enless you added another tube, which I'd like to see, there is no way even yours approaches that level of gain.

I doubt AX84 uses anything like the circuit I have. For one thing the tone switch is something like an AC15s, except mine boost the gain as well as changes the tone cap. I think Vox came first, but they did not have the boost built into the brill switch. For another, I doubt they use a 6aq5, like I do, in my latest 1 watt amps. And finally, my little amps use at least one more stage of power supply filtering than any other little amp out there
