Ibanez guitars with Diezel?

I have a pair of WCR Ironman's in my RGA121 prestige (maple neck, mahogany body with maple cap), and it sounds massive!!!!!!

I loved everything about that guitar except for the brightness, but those Ironman pups really took it over the top.

I did have to modify the legs of the pup , and drill new holes to get them to fit in the Ibanez.

Rob, I just installed Motor City "Detroiters" in my "Jem", I am using an Einy and a Vh4. I can tell you it is not too bright at all. I am loving my tone!
Call Wade at MCP, he will hook you up.

Please, also pay attention not only to your pickups, but also to your volume and tone pots. Maybe you want to revise your resistors and caps as well (i.e. treble bleed).

Im mainly using only Ibanez guitars (7 and 8-strings) with my setup (VH4 and Mako with V30s). No significant comparison to e.g. my Blackmachine in terms of treble.

Rob,

I have no less than 4 J Customs and there is a reason I keep them. They are absolutely phenomenal guitars. Completely different in sound and build from the regular Prestige stuff. The necks are amazing. The combination mahog body and maple top do tone them down a bit to be less bright. They work great. I've changed all of the stock Dimarzio Tone Zone and Norton pickups out of mine because I really don't like them. I have the CrunchLab/Liquifier setup in one, a pair of Evolutions in another, a Super 3 and Evo in another and a couple of Seymour Duncans (left them stock as they came that way) with my purple J Custom.

All 4 axes sound beautiful with the Diezel.....or any amp for that matter!

:)

Wow! Really...? That much different than the regular prestiges? Thats crazy
Love the info, so which one of the four is the warmest with the most sustain of them all?
I will go for it!

Im also noticing that a lot of the new ones come with emg's... Ive never really been a fan of EMGS, but maybe they sound good in the new ones...:?

I'm not a fanboy of EMGs at all. I liked them when I was a kid. That being said, those pickups have been used on some great songs!

I've owned several regular prestiges which are nice guitars but these things are in a league of their own.
It's the combination of the amazing neck and fretwork on these that really drew me in. The maho/maple top body is a bonus.
Warm and meaty!

They kind of have their own personalities.....The black one is the best playing. I have Evolutions in it. The gold one which is #1 of 6 has the Crunchlab/Liquifire pickups in it and it sounds clear and defined and is really good for soloing. The purple one is the sweetest sounding the bunch. I have a new red one on the way as well. It'll be my last. 4 guitars is more than enough for me. I sold the blue one to a friend...it's just didn't have the zip to it but again, it was a much older model and I didn't like the neck on it as much.

Im looking at either a red or black one...
Also.. What do you think about the Ibanez RGT3120's??? Im also looking at them too. They are neck throughs..

not to annoy anyone but ive never liked basswood in ibanez, they lack the punch and clarity for metal they are decent for lead things but can get really muddy in high gain, i bet the prestige mahogany and maple top sound great though, but ye £1200 for a basswood guitar... its why i moved to caparison.

Here is a file I recorded with my Ibanez. What do you think about it? I used two mics, a SM57 in front of the Speaker (center) and a AKG C214 about 1,1 meter in front of the cab. There is no post EQ, just panned the two mics a little bit left and right. In the first seconds I cut first the SM57 and then the C214 so that you can hear how each mic sound on its own. When I repeat a phrase I switch though the PU´s. Forgive me my sloppy playing... :D
