If one has a Monomyth Skeleton Key... which Wizard would you go for?

Own all three MC2 (EL34), MTL (6L6) and HR (6L6).

Thumpy as fuck, all of them. The gain just keeps going up and the clarity and attack never goes away. The sound in the room through a 4x12 is just incredible.

If you don’t have a strong picking attack/accurate picking hand, be careful.

Never played a skeleton key.

What are you trying to do that your skeleton key can’t do, what type of tone are you after and what bands/style of music you want to achieve?

MCII - Hard rock to some metal

MTL - imagine the most perfect amp for 80s thrash and then some

HR - just absolutely crushing and more gain and just sheer metal ness than you could ever imagine…EVER.
The Hell Razor has the most strongest and insane eq curve ever . So many sounds in it . Not just tight modern metal . The 3 gains for one channel with the rest of eqs can do so much . This is not said ever

I believe you dude, once I dial an amp in for the room I just don’t touch the knobs every again.

I really do wish you’d start pumping some demos out of your insane collection. Genuinely think people on here and elsewhere would benefit from the knowledge!

I will after I get the Larry . I got to get my shit together I know . It’s been a tough time lately. But I’m going to get it together

I currently all the wizards and the latest version of the SK. I’d go with the MTL mk2.

I’ve owned 16 or 17 Wizard and have played every model currently in production in various tube configurations. My favorite is my current 60w KT66 MTL mk2. Boosted, I prefer it over my HR.

Wizards have more punch and less saturation. The SK can get more aggressive upper mids and has a touch of compression to it.

Which Bogner? Also, which Wizard(s) are you comparing it against?

Not that I don't believe you, I'm just curious.
I can only compare my 6L6 MTLII Wizard- honestly I might rather have the MCII as it’s more my speed: (techy) will shame me for this comment but he know my style. The Bogner is a Cameron modded Ecstasy 101B 6L6 version. I can get any tone from my wizard, SLO and other amps that I own but this Bogner has something different.. it’s like my mk3 Black stripe. It’s different enough in person to know it will be stacked in my casket. Needless to say time and experience might change my thoughts but for now this amp is very exotic and doesn’t let you go once you start playing it. I’m working on the clean channel now trying to get what I want. Blue and red are sick. Just my thoughts after spending some time.

I thought monomyth punched as hard. Do you agree? Also, is your monomyth 50 watt?

I think my Monomyth, Hellion, & Hermansson all punch as hard as my MCII; but maybe the MTL and HR are different.

You are a man with that rare combination of brute strength and refined tastes. I bet you can keep a cold beer in your hand with your pinky extended while not spilling a drop when you decide to wreck a joker.
I remember one time i was pretty blitzed, i tripped over a velvet rope at a nightclub, i landed on my elbow and kept the beer upright. Sometimes you have to prioritize what is really important

If you kept your pinky extended that is called falling on your ass with pure class. I bet you was the last guy that velvet rope ever did that to again.

Dude you fools with the I've had 11 plus wizards...

:ROFLMAO:

NIce insight though. So the lower wattage stuff keeps up and sometimes can sound better?

I keep hearing go 100w because you get more bass response etc.

I don't care about head room. I don't jam live with a cab. Purely recording.

Awesome. I've been a Bogner nut for years now and I've always wondered how a 101A like you have would sound. I have a 101B and have owned an Ecstasy 20th Anniv 6L6, and at one point I did route the 101B into the 20th Anniv's poweramp and I have to say it was glorious. The combo of the dark, slightly grainy, slightly unpredictable 101B preamp with the 20th Anniv's wider bandwidth and stiffer 6L6 poweramp was incredible. A single amp with those elements would be insane.

I love Wizards for their extreme clarity, dynamics, and punch no matter how much you gain them out, but Bogners have all the juice and grease you could want and playing them is an experience for sure. At this point I think the right Wizards and the right Bogners are just as good as each other, but very different.

I had a First production run skeleton key and a 100 6L6 MKII MTL that I would blend together and the sound was absolutely pummeling.

Reinhold builds amps with a more feathery top end whereas the Wizzer Modern Classic has that pimp sheen to the highs. In a fight with big Jim I bet Reinhold would gain the upper hand cause his headdress would confuse even a Wizzer.
