Well this les paul sounds great but in a open jangly kind of way I’m probably not gonna use much, might have to go with something hotter. The 78’ I’m not sure about either, it’s open and jangly too just less so than the LP. Both these would be great if I was doing 70s rock kind of gain but might need something beefier if I really plan on using them for what I do.
After playing these two and my favorite SG through all these different amp, cab and boosts combos I’ve come to the conclusion there’s no rhyme or reason to what is going to sound good. My SG I would say is my best sounding guitar but through the Krank it just sounds lacking where I’d say the LP might have sounded best through it. I thought the openness of the LP would mesh nice with my beloved triple recto but I almost threw up it was so bad. I’m gonna do the same thing again with all my guitars and make a list of all the good combinations for future recording.
One thing that is consistently great is the mxr fat sugar, get one
