If you have a MK IV pot pulled say good bye :) I will admit that I have never tried to move a pot before and I have never read a review stating....... " I could hang a 10 pound dumbell from the gain pot!!!!!"

:D

I agree a pulled Mark IV pot is precarious :D, but you will only damage that one pot because it is individually bolted to the chassis.

There might be collateral damage to the overall PCB assembly and/or other pots in the other scenario IMO.....

Kannibul's statement came off pretty biased and not entirely accurate IMO.....

Given the close proximity of the knobs on the JVM, there's more potential that any damage would be absorbed by more than one pot-shaft, sharing the load between 2-4 (or more) pots...

Compare that with a JCM 800 or a 5150, where the knobs are more spread out something hits that, it's likely to place all of it's load into one shaft.

No jokes about have "load" and "shaft" in the same reply!!! :D

Kannibul can you do an experiment for me? Push your JVM off your cab so it lands face first on the floor. That will show once and for all whether the PCB assembly can act as a "shock absorber" from the fall and we can put this matter to rest  :P

Jeff not objective about something he owns

Never :D

That's not a realistic test - because that's something that would never happen (to me)! :)

I'm saying if someone knocked a mic over and it hit the knobs area, I don't think it'd kill a JVM any more than any other amp.

If it fell on it's face, the headshell would aborb the impact before the knobs would even touch the ground, as with other Marshalls...

Sorry to hear it Pete - I figured you'd give mine a run, but I guess GC is more convenient.

The knobs don't worry me in the least. If I was gigging as a guitarist, I'd still not worry about it. Yeah, they don't "feel" like standard pots, but so what? IMO, anything that would smack around the knobs on the JVM enough to break them, would be enough to break any other "standard" pot on other big-name amps.

Sorry, was in GC getting stuff for a gig and saw the JVM. Wasn't planned, just been crazy busy.

Knobs on the JVM felt cheap as hell. Tell you what, how about I come over and take one of my Randall MTS modules and smack the pots on it against your JVM's pots and see which one breaks first? Loser pays to fix his own amp. :)

*disclosure: The MTS has metal shafts and these cool things called nuts and washers attaching them to the modules. :D

Since when do you gig at the WWF shows :P

LOL

Guitar case & JVM in the back of the car, sharp turn left, full brake - new PCB :D

I'd get some protection for it if I had/have (?) one

Hey Pete, I totally understand the concern and I feel the same way. However, I've had good luck so far and as long as I don't throw the amp around (or throw things into it), I think I'll be fine.

I'm just digging at Jeff. They are cool amps, all kidding aside.

i haven't played one either. i went to gc yesterday and someone was jamming on it. It sounded THICK

Is there like an ass load of people that have the JVM now or should I said had one but moved on now

I finally got to play one, it was ok I guess. I thought I'd like the vintage/modern better but wasn't crazy about that one either. Really I'm not liking anything GC has anymore except maybe a few guitars as long as they haven't been molested.

Brent -

That amp was so 8 months ago.....

Supposedly they are going to release one with only 16 knobs on it (clean channel and dirty channel / 3 modes each...)

Good thing I sold J.B. my Cameron and bought one :scared:

LOL.....so whats the flavor of the month this time?
For me it's the Roadster. I was just downstairs cranking it. Damn...good sounding amp. Really a fun amp to play and tweak. Next month it SHOULD be the Cameron CCV. Crossing my fingers.
