I've narrowed my next guitar to one of these two. Problem is that I already have a 10, but it's scale is a few inches longer vs this one, so I thought I could pull off standard tuning better with the shorter 10 without extreme tension. I also like that it uses standard 6 string pickups as there would be far more options for swapping. Overall, I like it's expandability more than the 9 string, but I don't care as much for the narrower string spacing. (specs aren't accurate on website, had to contact them)
The 9 string really fits the bill for me when it comes to the overall profile of the neck and string spacing (on paper, at least). My options for pickups would be limited, but I have a spare set or two from MS eight string guitars(some manufactures often use a size up for multiscales due to the angle) that would suffice for the time being if I didn't care for the Fishmans. I also don't have a 9 string yet, haha. It seems that this one would be more playable for me over the 10 (not to an extreme degree), but lacks expandability options.
I do use the 10th string on my current one, before you ask. Not lower than the 3rd fret though, but not often enough to entirely discount the 9 string model. Both guitars are the same price, although it appears they're open to offers on the 9 string model. The finishes are the same according to the seller, it's apparently camera angle/lighting that makes one look more pink than the other. Thoughts? Thanks RT Community! Lisa
