I've narrowed my next guitar to one of these two. Problem is that I already have a 10, but it's scale is a few inches longer vs this one, so I thought I could pull off standard tuning better with the shorter 10 without extreme tension. I also like that it uses standard 6 string pickups as there would be far more options for swapping. Overall, I like it's expandability more than the 9 string, but I don't care as much for the narrower string spacing. (specs aren't accurate on website, had to contact them)

The 9 string really fits the bill for me when it comes to the overall profile of the neck and string spacing (on paper, at least). My options for pickups would be limited, but I have a spare set or two from MS eight string guitars(some manufactures often use a size up for multiscales due to the angle) that would suffice for the time being if I didn't care for the Fishmans. I also don't have a 9 string yet, haha. It seems that this one would be more playable for me over the 10 (not to an extreme degree), but lacks expandability options.

I do use the 10th string on my current one, before you ask. Not lower than the 3rd fret though, but not often enough to entirely discount the 9 string model. Both guitars are the same price, although it appears they're open to offers on the 9 string model. The finishes are the same according to the seller, it's apparently camera angle/lighting that makes one look more pink than the other. Thoughts? Thanks RT Community! ❤️Lisa

Do you have big hands for a lady? I am 6'6 and have long fangas and a 9 string just seems like a bridge too far. I have been wanting an 8 string because me and my brother are doing a 2 man band thing and I have delusions of grandure and want to do basslines and guitar at once.

For tuning are you looking to go high to low:
E, B, G, D, A, E, B, G, D, A
If so, I like the 9 because it gives 2 strings (low G and D) for even scales/solo before that major 3rd jump to the B string. So you have an even 2 high strings and 2 low strings above and below the major 3rd jumps.

Maybe you’re used to it, but for me I need to see patterns and having 2 high strings above the major 3rd jump and 3 low below the major 3rd jump would throw me off.

The right pickup spacing from the bridge on the 10 string would have me a little unsure without playing it first. It has a reverses P look, so I get what they're going for in theory. However, I'd be worried it wouldn't give the typical bridge pickup response most would want from the higher 6 strings since it's sitting in the middle position. Unless they're assuming you'll have to dial in the amp thin and bass shy for the low strings, so you want less sharpness on the higher strings. But yeah, I would have to play it before purchasing because of that.

I don't think I have big hands, they're actually probably on the smaller side?:ROFLMAO: I've been playing extended ranges for a while now, though so they don't intimidate me anymore. Don't let those supposed delusions get you down as my 10 is sometimes tuned like a standard guitar and a standard bass at the same time. It's tension that becomes issue on that guitar the given it's 27-30" scale.

Usually play different Marlow tunings (standard+) , Bass + Standard Guitar, and EAEA(B or Fg sometimes)EADGBE. Looking to try to tune up to A sometimes if possible.

I thought about this as well, but I wonder if they did it purposefully to give the bass side more definition? These things aren't known for having both good bass and good treble, It's kind of one or the other.

9 String because BabyMetal :)

Or a Gibson SG
Haha. Got my SG's covered. I think I have at least half a dozen. Pink elite, Pelham 61 standard, Red HP, Red 66 Standard, Goth, Diablo, Special, Tribute, and most recently a CM Black. Probably another one or two I'm forgetting. The Epiphone Iommi SG in my giveaway is actually my daughter's offering. How's your new Strandberg treating you, btw? These two Agiles were the alts to a Strandberg that I was talking to you about when you got yours.

8 string is perfect for me . I’ve hit my limit lol

(cough)...quietly mutter joke about phallus symbol here...(cough)
(cough)...quietly mutter joke about women's indecisiveness here...(cough)
(slightly louder cough)...mutters to oneself about his inability to play anything larger than a 6 string guitar...(grumble)
(shrugs)...."fuck it, this is rig-talk. No one is immune."

I thought that too until I got my 10, sold that and got another 10. Now I want another. What it comes down to for me isn't always necessarily drop tuning so much as it is simple, yet ingenious tunings that I've found that allow me to move up the bass from treble and visa versa faster than moving up/down the neck. Think about having 4 E's overall for example.

I'm sure you've seen this? he stated there are setup/intonation issues?

that all natural / maple model is sweet, IMO:

Thanks for sharing that. Pretty sure I have seen that video. The Chiral and the Perihelion are slightly different tiers whereas the Perihelion is supposedly on a workflow that gets tooling resets more often, so less likely to have issues there. I've owned a number of Agiles and other guitars that came out of World Music without issue, and I'm definitely one of those people he describes around the 3:30 and 19:30 marks. They've all been flawless so far, and only had electronics upgrades or none at all. I've purchased enough of them that I would hope the dealer wouldn't hassle me about returns if there did end being issues.

I’m gonna say 10, after reading your first post it seems to me that another 10 is really kinda what you are leaning towards…so I say go for the 10. After getting used to a 10, a nine might be lacking…..😬😬

Now please excuse me as I go play my Charvel. 😊😊
