It's not the amps.. It's the player..

Furthermore, JP like to use small amps in the studio. Although truthfully they kinda sounded like shit, the SONGS are what carried the production..

"It's not the amps...it's the player" Why insult the intelligence of the OP when he's asking a music gear question on a site called Rig Talk? Maybe your brilliant wisdom shouldn't be on a site that discusses amps.

No kidding. Take it to http://www.player-talk.com!

I saw Page/Plant in 95 I think on the first tour after the “No Quarter” recording. They opened with Trampled under Foot. It was the most powerful fucking thing I’ve ever experienced. It went through my body.....honestly.

Page’s tone was a bit cleaner than the old days, but still super powerful and punchy. One of the greatest shows I’ve seen. I can only imagine what a 70’s show would have been like.

I doubt Jimmy Page just lets anyone looks inside his amps...

Hopefully they got that baby out of there before the show started :scared:

Edit-oops I`m guessing that's just a display :D

LOL! So funny someone else saw the baby really clear. I was going to joke that all of Jimmy Page's tone came from that baby in the background. Allister Crowley as an infant....LOL

First of all, I have no gut shots of Jimmy Page's amps.

Second, Led Zeppelin will probably go down as my favorite band of all time. Really really like Physical Graffiti. So polished but still with that edge of the cliff falling apart sound I've always liked. Houses of the Holy is also an all time favorite. But side 2 of Led Zeppelin 4 (for me) is the best due to 'When the Levee Breaks' and 'Misty Mountain Hop' (not because of the movie 'Fast Times'.

There are more good pics in here:

Jimmy recently released a book call 'Anthology' I think that probably has stuff in it but I have not seen it. Supposedly it was $150 an was mostly about his guitars? I think?

And yeah - I bet the museum thing would be awesome.

A little side note. Don't remember if it was Pete Townsend or Jimmy Page that first asks for the Marshall "stack". They had this one-piece cab with eight speakers that weighed well over 200 lbs and he was like how the f am I going to be able to move or do anything with this? LOL. That is how the idea of the two separate cabs, angled and straight came about, stacked.

Love those old stories of the "first" of whatever started a trend.
It was Pete Townsend - but I'm sure Jimmy was running into the same problem.

I know this isn’t a gut shot, but a cool shot nevertheless.

So here is a good pic out of that book I referenced. Not sure if they (book) were all autographed by Jimmy Page but I saw that some were sold on eBay for over $2,000. I do believe they were under a limited run. I found the pics on braveworlds dot com after poking around the internet.

Stock marshalls with 6550`s. Those marshalls on display probably are not his, after Zep he didn't even use marshalls live very much, orange/ fender tonemaster/ 5150 etc. etc.

I can't think of any reason why Jimmy Page would donate Marshall amps to a museum in his name that were not his. He's already donated guitars and stage wardrobes etc :dunno:

Also, I've never seen any evidence that he used 5150s either :dunno:

Everybody was using 5150`s in 1991 that was 29 years ago

Yeah. I could see why people would think that. Around that time Jimmy was using his Marshalls, Oranges and his Petersburg JP100s - which kind of looked like 5150s :D

Nice clarification. I was having a hard time imagining Jimmy using 5150s...and I say: "No, everyone was not using 5150s in the 91."

The reunion back 2007whatever and yes a shit ton of artist were using 5150`s maybe just not you. Hell a 100B wasnt even out yet and everybody knew they had a poor man`s soldano

Coverdale/ Page to be exact
I just told you when he used them. I don't know how old you were in 91?
Easy there trigger.

I didn't find those pics, upload them to imgur and then post them back here all within 3 minutes.

Give me a break will ya. I never said anything was time period correct - I was only trying to point out that his Petersburg amps look a lot like 5150s. And I own the album Coverdale-Page and think it is pretty damn good. Especially 'Absolution Blues' and 'Whisper a Prayer...'.

That tone certainly doesn't sound like a 5150 to me and I can't find any evidence otherwise but oh well.
