Went in to do the usual hang, see if anything from NAMM was in already and decided to mess around on some of the pedal displays they have. By pure happenstance just came across a glorious, goddamn rock sound with a Keeley compressor going into the warm audio, klon clone, into their crappy Gamma 50 W solid-state amp. Of course it got my cogs spinning, but then I realized, it’s this particular combination. I’ll never gonna want one of these amps and probably never play with this sterile of a clean sound at home, so these pedals wouldn’t do this with what I have, but it was probably one of the best tones I’ve gotten in recent time, in a store.

Shout out to The Friedman BEOD. I had never tried one before and into the solid-state amp, set real clean, was a really good sounding pedal. Very versatile with the tight control.

My GC won't let me put the volume on anything past 1.
It's fun to mess with them though and suggest stupid things to see if they agree/disagree to gauge their knowledge/care about customer satisfaction.

Awesome. Also the BEOD is a legit pedal, I did a gig once with it into a Bassman and it sounded great.

I've jammed with a few people that had a good pedal setup going into whatever amp & it soudned killer. Definitely not to be discounted.

Last weekend I took my IIC+ Coliseum to GC and cranked it up till the cab started complaining. :ROFLMAO:

I think I was the first person in an hour who bent up a note in tune, so they let it slide for a little while. ?
Actually didn’t have it too loud though.
The worst part is it took me a whole 5 minutes to figure out how to bypass a Tonex and a DL4 MKII that were in the chain, to only find out I had guessed right the first time on how to do it, but there was a Keeley delay that was still on and I didn’t see it’s LED…”where the fuck is that delay coming from?” ?

I never interact with their sales people if I can help it…?

You're supposed to wait until they walk away then dime it.

I've never been to a GC or Sam Ash where anyone working there gave a shit about anyone other than their own band.

Well, I try to explain to them that I'm deaf, but they don't understand sign language

I need to try a BE-OD. I know for a while Tosin Abasi was running one into a clean Morgan amp for his high gain tones. Not sure what his current setup is though.

The BE-OD is a really cool pedal. It can make a clean combo amp almost sound like a rock machine. One of the few truly cool amp-in-a-box pedals.

If you like the BE OD, try one of Griff's versions. I have the Tone Ripper, and the Ban Hammer is also a clone. More jagged/raw/open sounding than the smoother BE OD. Killer into my 72 Trem.

Is the tone ripper and ban hammer the same pedal? I thought the BE OD I tried was just ok as far as those types of pedals go. Not the most organic or inspiring imo

You'd have to ask Griff....I think there's a couple different components but they are both based off the BE. The BE being smooth, TR being more jagged/raw.
But, being that you have a Klon I don't know that many pedals will be very good to your ear. I find the TR fantastic with my 72.

Same here, bought a BeOD Deluxe from marketplace as it was cheap. I.flipped a few weeks later.

The Klon is definitley my favorite pedal, but just as a boost, not how I’d use these distortion pedals nor as a master volume effect. I actually don’t love the Klon with my 72. Maybe the TR or the right other pedal in this ballpark I’d like more with my 72

Definitely! Give it a try....it may be a non vintage pedal that you like with your 72.

I owned the BE-OD Deluxe for a while and built a clone (Thermionic Deluxe) with a slightly tweaked mid range.
It's response is quite amp-dependant, but IMO it's one of the best 9V powered (non tube) stand alone drive pedals that really sounds amp-like.
I lowered the internal gain trim pots for more low gain and mid gain versatility.
Because of the two channels, you can almost tackle the range where Bogner needs the Blue and Red pedals for.

last time i was in there a couple years ago i went in looking for a drum rug, there was a gorgeous young lady in the drum dept i couldnt wait to talk to, she was dealing with someone in front of me and i overhear them talking about a kick pedal. she goes in the back and comes out with a single and the dude said thats a single, im looking for the double.. she didnt know what that was, and explained to him shes not a drummer, nor any kind of musician, and just applied there randomly :ROFLMAO: i was heart broken lol. i did go to a different GC farther away from me and it seemed much better, i guess they are not all the same

They aren't all bad at mine, tbh. There's a young kid who knows his stuff pretty well and is fun to talk to and the manager is pretty cool for the most part. Mostly everyone else is just a cashier with the same tattoos and skinny jeans. A few years ago I was there with my daughter and told her she should apply for a job there and her response was that she already lives at a guitar store, she doesn't want to work at one, especially one full of tools or something along those lines. It was hard not to laugh given one was trying to help us and there were a couple others standing next to us when we were talking...
