Actually Mike says specifically in his mod list email NOT to use one of the current reissues. I was just emailing with him yesterday and got the current option list:

Cali mod, Any 50w/100w Marshall, single channel amp that is not the current reissue with the solid state loop (harsh sounding OT) is a good platform as long as the transformer sets are original.

Ahh my mistake, i know exactly what he means about the RI models with the loop. I was thinking of the earlier RI's that didn't come with a loop, those ones are great IMO
