The only other contender IMHO is the Telecaster.

I can't think of a genre that either guitar isn't used in.

I've slowly converted from being a Les Paul/Strat guy to a 335/Tele guy.

I don’t know if it’s the ultimate guitar, but it’s a very nice and versatile guitar.

I’m a guitar whore, so I have most of the different guitar flavors.

Here are mine

1st sentence LOL

Lifeson played one for a while.. Never played one. But you have the added factor of the hollow body..
He then went Les Paul but he put a Whammy on it.. LOL Scofield always got good tones out of his. All the Jazz guys have one.

Nuggent played Birdland.. Is probably a handful of feedback but it's probably nothing when you own one. He eventually went PRS.

Probably a solid general statement that solid body guitars have the best heavy tones..

Yep, been saving for one for awhile. Nothing quite like them.

I think his white one is actually a 355, not a 335. I don't know the difference, but I have the Epi 355 and want a real Gibson ES-335 again. I traded one for an SLO long ago. And while the trade was heavily in my favor, I miss the 335 more than I missed the since-sold SLO. I will have another once I'm done flipping some watches.

Fun fact - EVH played a 335 a lot before he got the Frankenstrat going.

My dad had an electra 335 copy. Looks just like this one
https://www.ebay.com/itm/373592285843Fucking thing had the sweetes tone for blues. I agree with anyone that says hollow body being bad for high gain, but you can't beat the cleans on this damn thing.
Funnily enough, I don't know if it is lack of care taken to these guitars by my father and this gentleman, or the materials used, but the degradation is uncannily similar between my dad's and this one. And my dad's was perfect for as long as I could remember til he got a divorce and moved from a dry region to a heavily humid one. And yet his other guitars are not reacting in the same way.

If for no other reason than the lower bout causing you to hike your right arm up to play it. They have a great sound but not ultimate for me. And also look out for that lower Mickey Mouse horn if you're sliding way up the neck real fast on the high strings.

Death Metal.
i had an es-335 for a while. i'm a big extreme metal guy. Its not ideal because its semi hollow, but it certainly gets the job done just fine. They don't look very menacing though, pointy guitars or all black guitars work better for the image.

Should make it a poll. My vote is NO not the ultimate guitar
