I've been simplifying my rig and was wondering how this would do on a pedalboard with just a small cab?
Any idea how loud the 170 is at 16 ohms? I have a 16 ohm cab and wondering how loud that would be for gigs.I had original one and Mercury. Very stiff feeling and harsh sounding with none of the sponginess and bloom of mediocre tube amp. On the paper and from vids looks good but no miracles happened and overpriced for what it is. Friedman IR-X + Duncan 170 is much better if portability is important.
Which foot switch did you use ?I’ve had my mercury for about a year now and like it a lot, used rehearsal and gigs and it’s versatile as hell. The loop is great the gate is really good, verb is up there as well. I’ve set mine up with an extra 2 button footswitch and preset mode which allows it to be a 4 channel amp with a boost feature.
When dialing in tones it takes to certain ones very well and others is a lil bit of work, but can be done.
They're definitely loud enough for gigs. Like a real tube amp, they sound better cranked up.Any idea how loud the 170 is at 16 ohms? I have a 16 ohm cab and wondering how loud that would be for gigs.
I ended up ordering a Quilter amp. I'm going to see how that does. I'm really hoping it works for me.They're definitely loud enough for gigs. Like a real tube amp, they sound better cranked up.
It’s just one that’s built out of an old mxr pedal.Which foot switch did you use ?
