Is this a fair price and good amp? Marshall content

Considering it's going to be another 10% sales tax I think around 2k out the door would be a good price. I think 85 was when Marshall went PCB pots and reduced filtering (not sure on the 59/87's). If it were me I'd wait and find an older one, likely for the same price from a private seller.

It’s really a super lead boxed in jcm package . So it’s not going to be the typical 800 . They did super leads in JMP shells too . From what I gathered researching Marshall history

Yep the 1987/1959s continued throughout the 800 line, in 800 skin. 1988 they made a limited 100 JMP styled 1959s and 50 1987s copied from a pair of 1972 versions. But don’t discount the JCM 800 version; Gary Moores’ top 3 Marshalls were a 1971 Superbass and 2 great sounding JCM 800 1959s.

I have one of these but it is the 100W, 1959. Mine is very late, 1990, Z serial number. It is sooooo ridiculously loud you can feel the hair on your arms and legs moving.

NMV JCM800s are very cool amps. I'd want to see gut shots before paying $2000 though.

Unless you mod a 1959, you’ll need a PS100 to attenuate it. They are LOUD at 0.5 on the volume.
Cmon man...only pussies need an attenuator.

Just kidding....I can only run my 72 at volume when the neighbors are gone, and the wife is shopping....

But it's so worth it.

I had three gigs last year where I was able to run a 100w Plexi at full tilt with no attenuator. It was glorious. Sounds guys asked me what I had in that amp.

You guys are insane !

My ears ring already. I’d probably lose my hearing altogether by turning my super lead up unattenuated.

I figured after the research but back then if I wanted a 800 and didn’t know at store I would have been mad lol . No internet to know . Walk in music store and dude definitely wouldn’t tell you on those days lol
