Is this part of conforming to the YT algorhithm, Bad.Seed?

Has the title:

EVERYONE has been using the WRONG pickups for metal....

Really?

Everyone?

E-VE-RY one?

:scared:

I'm wondering if writing such words in all caps helps getting more clicks, because, seriously dude, I was holding you in higher regard than the typical Fricker clickbait nonsense.
As someone who recently wrote 'this forum cracks me up', right back at ya, buddy. ;)
And you probably know already, but DC resistance doesn't tell the whole story about the actual output level of a pickup.

Full disclosure, I really enjoy most of your vids, just how I like Guitarjon's videos for instance, but this 'only making outrageous hyperbolic black and white statements' to get a more nuanced point across is a very unwanted method that seems to be running rampant.
What's wrong with 'You may have been using the wrong pickup for metal' as a title ?

But hey, if it rakes in more clicks and $$$....

Kind regards from someone who has been using medium (to medium/high) output humbuckers for a few decades, playing mostly the heavy things.

Most videos that seem to get recommended a lot have clickbait titles and a thumbnail of someone making a face with an arrow pointing at something. I guess that must be what get the clicks. If you want to make a business out of YouTube videos then you do what gets more engagement. I don’t begrudge people from playing that game as it’s gotta be better than the 9 to 5 grind.

I personally find the clickbait titles and silly thumbnails to be distasteful and I often don’t click on them and unsubscribe from people who do it. But i guess it works on more people than it doesn’t. Or the YouTube algorithm likes it and that’s what it decides to push.

I guess it has its advantages. Someone who doesn’t play into it is probably making the videos they want to make rather than just saying and doing whatever they think people (or advertisers) want to see. Should imply something about the opinions of the person in the video, are they genuine or paid-for.

I understand Kyle wants his videos to have the widest reach possible, but everything in life is a cost benefit analysis.

The opportunity costs of clickbait titles is inevitably everyone with an above-room-temperature IQ rolling their eyes and possibly giving up on your content entirely - it's just a matter of whether that's worth it to him or not

Good point! The video definitely had a 'since Gibson is my peeps now, I gotta push their product a bit more' vibe to it.
Enough popcorn for ya, Dan? :p

@Nashville Riff Co that gif is funny on another level, since about 15 years ago, I looked kinda like the guy with the sunglasses, goatee and all.(y)

Now it's a grey-ish full beard. Oh, how the time flies.

Not until Kyle shows up :ROFLMAO:

I'd like to hear his take/explanation

I've debated and hemmed and hawed for years about starting a parody youtube gear channel starring "Robert Basic", "Rhett Shill", "Shillip McKnight", and my impersonations of all of them (including their playing)

Honestly what's keeping me from doing it is that it would be TOO easy and I'm consistently surprised no one has done it yet

HEY GUYS IM ROBERT BASIC YOU WANT TO LEARN HOW TO RAWK LIKE ACDC AND LED ZEP WELL HERES MY SUPREMELY AVERAGE ANODYNE PLAYING

HEY GUYS I'M HENNING PAULY AND I'VE TAKEN A BREAK FROM SMASHING MY BALLS WITH A MEAT TENDERIZER FOR GERMAN SCHEISSE FILMS FOR 10 SECONDS TO SHOW YOU EITHER A 10 THOUSAND DOLLAR GUITAR OR 10 DOLLAR GUITAR FOR 194 MINUTES

In my mind these guys jump the shark and shed credibility when they get to the point where they feel they must “entertain” vs merely “informing” consumers. You all have seen it unfold, formerly reserved personas start “hamming it up” on camera, replete with brief cutaway gags/sound effects and other goofy shit. Seriously, it’s not flattering and quite honestly, with some, I repeat, some of these YouTubers, their guitar playing itself is comedic enough. This transformation usually coincides with the desire to “brand” themselves and they get themselves a cute little logo, push merch, align themselves with large companies, etc. BTW love the hat in the linked video. How about getting that logo inked on you? Might as well go all the way buddy! “Real world” trusted reviews are only going to come from those who “keep it real” by staying small and doing it part time/purely for fun IMO. Like some of the bigger YT names used to do. Another particularly pathetic trend I’ve noticed is what I call “content dry spells”. E.g. no new gear to review this week but I have to keep the videos flowing so how about I take the viewers on a guided tour of my fridge? Lastly, I must question how wise their decision making process was that led some to pursue YT as a full time career choice since it is by nature so incredibly fickle. How long until we see go fund me campaigns because “clicks are down”? Or other pity party endeavors? You know it’s going to happen.

Yep. For every chick that claims 'I'm actually a model on instagram', I'm like 'cool, I'm a 47 KDR sniper on Counterstrike Source, particularly lethal in the streets of Italy and the Piranesi castle grounds'.
Imagine an internet outage... I won't lose any money from my sniping gig tho'...😉

LOL 100% spot on...i'd watch it hahaha

Its the internet bro
Why so serious?
I'm not the one starting a new group because the 'other group' was seemingly too tox... ;-)

I'm all for providing proper knowledge to both beginners and advanced players, but there's a difference in delivery between "you'd be surprise what string gauge does for tone" and "OMFG, I've literally tried THE BEST strings EVER, the rest is JUNK!" including an O-face on the picture with some big screamy font. And if people are getting some flak for that STYLE of delivery, that's a different thing than all the personal insults, death threats etc. that go on in Off Topic and getting flak for a lame ass style is not really toxic eh?
