It’s time to upgrade the board

Seems like this gets blown up every election year.
Overall it’s not ‘terrible’ on a regular basis.
Lot of folks quit the board last election.
Fights arguing went on.
Same as the last 6 months.
Should die down I would think. History repeats.

Finally, regarding the dark mode, I agree that would be a nice addition and I know it's been requested for a while but there's not much we can do with the current board. I'll check if it's handled natively on the new board and if not I'll see what I can do. I'll probably do that AFTER the migration though as it requires a little bit of work to set the correct colors.

With any luck, there'll be a limited set of default choices, Nico.

I've set up boards using phpBB and freeforums software and it seems to be standard to offer a couple o' shades with the option for admin to add other themes, be they from user collections or whatever. Usually the notes attached to the relevant section in the admin area will spell out what the options are and provide links, so no need to even crack the manual.

I guess automatic detection of the OS' dark mode would not be enough and you'd rather have an option or a dark them that users could choose manually?

I'm for removal of Off Topic completely. The is no music or gear in OT. Virtual every thread in OT is in violation of the posted rules.

Absolutely! Remove OT entirely. If not, begin enforcing a "no politics" policy.

Krull (aka WGAF) has been using the OT as a toilet for months. I predicted a change on RT after the 2020 election, and here it is!

Apart from that, it helps maintain a steady flow of traffic through here, which is almost always a good thing for the vast majority of boards out there.

This is weird. Maybe the sub-forum's clock needs to be set? I've checked my board preferences and they're perfect. The Rig-Talk sub-forum's clock is perfect; it's just the OT Central one that's off AFAICT.

OK, date and lack-of-new-posts issue solved:

I've been using and refreshing (via the OTC link therein) the same OTC page for years. I went to the main index to see if maybe the subforum had been renamed or something. It hadn't, but I immediately noticed that it seemed to be up-to-date, so I've now used it to replace my previous OTC page.

It looks the same, but the old link no longer works properly; it brings up the page, but it hasn't updated since Sunday.

Hopefully this helps anyone else who's been caught out like this.

Click on the mail button beside your abatar at the top right then click view all conversations. That's all I can help with for now
