The strangest thing about Wolfgang are the fans of his father’s band that shit all over him. I can’t even begin to grasp the mentality of “I really love this guy’s dad’s band, I’m gonna go tell him he’s fat and to stop riding his dad’s coattails” :LOL: Even stranger seeing people demand he has a tribute for Ed or telling him he’s ungrateful for not doing it…..I don’t even want to think about my father’s death (he’s still alive), but imagine taking on all that additional bullshit along with it? Fuck that.

I can definitely understand the aspect of “If it weren’t EVH’s kid, would anyone care?” but that’s not the situation, he IS EVH’s kid….hell, he was even IN Van Halen for a while. It’s not like he never had his name in print prior to releasing his first album and used his last name to prop himself up, he was already a known name by the time he did his first album and of course there were going to be people wanting to release it just because of who he is.

Overall, we know who Tom Hanks’ son is because of his father’s fame, despite his son’s lack of talent as a rapper. On that alone, I’ve got zero gripes with Wolf, how he came to be in his current position or what he does with his career.
 
Just started listening to it so we'll see if it hooks me like the first album; impressive that he's plays and sings everything.

I like his drumming a lot, the kick sounds great in the mix.

I miss reading liner notes and lyrics and fantasizing about being in a band. We never could have imagined meeting one of our heroes. People know can do meet and greets. I would have dropped dead if I had met Warren DeMartini in 1985.
 
I respect Wolfgang for doing his own thing. He sounds nothing like his dad and that is a good thing because his dad is the pinnacle for me. He sounds great and is having fun.
 
I'm actually shocked how many people listen to Wolfgang's band . I'm a HUGE VH fan who loves most everything they did with Dave but I have listened to maybe 3 songs from Mammoth over the last couple years and it's just not my type of music that's why I never listen to it .


Anybody who expects him to change is likely to be very disappointed . His influences are totally different than guys who's influences were Hendrix, Clapton , Beck and Page and therefore the music will be and it shows.
 
Guitarist can be some of the most petty competitive people. I'm guilty of this myself but sometimes I wish we, myself included, would just let people express themselves and not tear them down even if their music isn't my taste. How many times do you read a comment section and someone is being shitty for no reason except to shit on someone to make themselves feel better? Playing guitar isn't a competitive sport but we treat it like it is. That Emmanuel Aguilera dude is one of my favorite guitarist these days cause that dude does not give a shit. People say the meanest things to him and he hits them back with some "Huggz brother" or some other positive shit. I'm not sure if he is a genius Andy Kaufman type or if he is legit thinking he is shredding but fuck I would love to have his confidence.

I can't imagine being expected to fill EVH's shoes or live in his shadow. Wolfgang seems like a relatively decent guy and he is doing his own thing. Having said that I'm not listening to his music nor will I be taking a part of my day to shit on him on his social media. I will say I saw a clip of them playing some Alice in Chains and felt they did a good cover.

who is even really shitting on him here?? everyone agrees hes talented. i dont understand all the sensitiveness around this place lately every time someone says they dont like a band, amp, youtuber or whatever. we are discussing an anticipated album by a big name because thats what we do here, its ok to not love everyone and everything. its weird to me guys get so bent out of shape over someones opinion of another person they dont even know or even listen to as you said yourself.

Alien fingers!!!

He’s actually a capable and competent guitar player, if you dig through his vids you’ll eventually find evidence he can actually play. I think he made one of those shred videos as satire one day and it caught on so he kept it up. I followed him for a while but it lost it’s charm after about 2 weeks of the same thing.
