I think the hard tails seem pretty cool. I had a few of the old USA soloist and always hated the way they placed the volume knob so close to the bright pickup, just could never get used to it, personal preference.
I may take a leap on one of the new hardtails. Seems to check most all the boxes.

My buddy and I shopped these recently. A good one is really, really good. Bad ones have fret issues. Fret sprout and sharp edges. Some sound and setup great outta the box, some way out.

The EMGs are nice. I've only briefly played them before.
I like the initial attack.
The FR 1500 isn't horrible. Stays in tune fine.
Easy player for metal/shred. Cleans up surprisingly well.
Automatically go to Metallica, Megadeth, Pantera, Wylde type stuff.
