JCA22H bias problem

I've never redplated a power tube. Does it literally turn red?

But also, if the bias is too hot, besides instantly redplating, doesn't it shorten the tube life significantly?
A lot of times the amp will hum as it’s heading toward redplating

I bought a pair of Russian 6p14p's, based on another JCA22H owner's suggestion. Every other amp I've ever owned had bias test points. But, of course, this amp doesn't, and I want to get it set correctly. I bought the SRS bias probe. Thanks for everyone's help!
My money is on robs method being correct and that those tube are drawing a lot of current.

Just an update. I got a new multimeter and the tubes are testing correctly now. Each are at 23.6 and 21.4 mA.

Sounds great! Crazy that for around $300 I'm enjoying this amp so much. After the holidays, I think I'll be on the lookout for a 50 watter.
I thought the JC sounded better than the Soldano in this video
