Ive had 2, still have one, both 100 watters. Never had a problem at all.
I have a good tube stash & replaced V-1 & V-2 with some 1967 Holland Amperex new in box.
Omg the mids that come thru are incredible thru my Blackback 4x12.
Lead 1 gain @ 6, Master about 4.5 hit w/a modified TS-9 gat damn good.

I've got a 1923 - essentially a DSL 50 - and it sounds fantastic. Would really like to have a 100 watter for the clean headroom, though. Seen tons of bands live playing these and they always deliver. Skid Row crankin' Rivera's is the only better guitar tone I've heard live.

Very nice... been thinking about maybe getting one as a backup for my Splawn Nitro head.

They have a distinct voicing to them that can be imitated but never replicated. I personally prefer my laney GH100TI over a DSL plus the improved reliability regardless of the manufacture date, but countless artists many times more famous than I have used them live without any issues at all full tilt as backlines for many bands. No doubt a respectable investment and great Marshall tone.

I thought live skid row used JCM900 SLX’s?

Awesome amps . Even the empty dudes like MCR were pumping out great tones with these amps

Yessir. I am sellin g a 100w right now, but only because my 50w had minor modifications and I will never part with it.

Tha JCM 2000 DSL series are some of, if not THE best high gain amps Marshall has released. Absolutely love them, and their versatility. Green channel ain't no slouch either, keeps up with some of the best of them as well.

Kinda cliche but if you can’t sound great out of a DSL you suck

i pretty much agree, i mean i wouldnt call it my favorite amp but lets say in a hypothetical all i have is a DSL im totally cool. i do have a 12at7 to put in my V1 which i guess is supposed do something good

I have PTSD with DSL's. I had a couple 100's way back in the day. Both developed bias drift issues due to the weak PCB traces. Only real fix is a PCB update replacement. I had a 50 that was killer though.

They changed the board in 2005 or 2006. I've seen 2005's with the old board though.

Was years ago, Subhuman Race tour. I think they were playing these at that time:

If I remember right (Chubtone told this originally here) Skid Row toured with Saigon Kick supporting…Jason Bieler used the TBR1-SL live and SR loved the tone. They recorded Slave with M100s which are a similar circuit to the TBR.
Very nice and versatile amp.

The replacement boards apparently have the same problem, from what I’ve read/seen, although I take it this does not mean 2006+ Boards have the issue though. Seems like you either need to know what you’re doing to really fix the problem or just stick to 2006+ years.

DSL 2000 is the main touring amp of British 80s metal bands. Even Iron Maiden uses them. The 100W DSLs actually sound like proper Marshall amps.

I thought the drift problem was corrected by 2001?
No it wasn't. There's a specific revision board when they improved the design. I looked at a 2005 a couple years ago and had the guy open the chassis. It had the early revision board in it. My guess is mid to late 2005 for the change.

The newer revision has improved materials and traces. The issue is fully resolved with the update. The only way to get them was as a fully-loaded PCB for $199. Who knows if they're available anymore or if so, how much they are.
