Anyone know his story -- where he got started, places he order on guitars, etc? He makes some really great guitars, and I'm fortunate to have one. Just wondering what his backstory is

Dunno, but I'm often tempted to sell my PRS and grab a Luxxtone.

Jerry is my fav builder of all time. His wife is cool too. I am a huge fan of what he does. I order like 1 guitar a year from him it seems. A few years back my wife made him a sign for his shop that we sent to him just for fun. He loved it and hung it up on his wall. I cannot wait to get my Choppa T in a few months.

I know he still does luthier work under the following.

He either is or used to be the artist tech for fender, Charvel, Jackson, Gretch, meaning he would do the final work and setup on guitars before they went out to the artists. I call him the human plek machine. Hands down the best fretwork. I've ever owned, even over Tom Anderson and Suhr

Not sure where he came from but I’m sure glad he’s here. Own three currently and another due around May. I echo what Scottosan said about the fretwork. The only thing I’ve played that is even remotely close in feel, playability, and fretwork are my Friedman Calis and they are Plek’d. Jerry is a true master and nobody on this forum that has played or owned one of his guitars will disagree.

I have known Jerry for around 10 years. I love the guy!!. Jerry is one of the best Luthiers in the LA area, I know he studied under luthier Jon Hill of Hill Guitars. He is one of the nicest, most genuine great human that I have ever met. I know he was a guitar tech for Zakk Wylde on one of the tours, (one that he didn't enjoy much), he is very involved in Luxxtone, his hands are on every guitar, especially the fret work. I know he works for Charvel custom shop on Mondays, which is why Luxxtone is closed every Monday. (I think he works with their artist guitars.) He is extremely OCD with frets. if you want your frets done perfect, Jerry is your guy. He is very meticulous on fretwork I love Luxxtone guitars and Jerry is involved with every aspect of every guitar, you can count the employees in that shop on your hand.

Just got this in a few weeks ago. Can't believe how well this plays?

I consider Jerry a friend and a former colleague. Used to do amp work for his SIS shop. I always take my guitars to him and they always come out perfect! He is still the artist tech for FMIC. I believe that covers all the sub shops like EVH, Charvel, Jackson, etc...

His work is impeccable and he has the integrity and humility to complement other builders. I once took him one of my Suhr Modern guitars for servicing and he told me the problem was a bad string and showed me. He said the rest of the guitar was perfect and complemented Suhr's workmanship. He also showed me how to check for a bad string....

I've gotten to meet his family too. Great people!
He's earned his success! He is a bona-fide luthier. He went through the apprentice process and all that entails many years ago.

What Fusionbear said. Jerry used to do my luthier work, too.

Don’t know a ton about his backstory other then what’s been said here already, but I will say that I’ve never owned guitars that play better and have such attention to detail as my Luxxtones, I’ve owned 6 of his guitars over the years and currently have 3 and other than a Tyler I really don’t want anything else. Kind of cool to be able to ring up the main guy who built your instrument and ask questions and have suggestions made to help find whatever you’re looking to do. Great guy.

In all of the years hearing and knowing Luxxtone, I’ve never seen anything negative about Jerry.

Seems like it settled, I should get one of these guitars as well! Haha 😂
I really want one but not relic’d, which makes anything used very rare of an already scarce item.

And I like the headstock too…maybe even better than the Fender headstock.

I had a tele and it was killler, I would agree fretwork was perfect

Would love to hear more about Jerry's backstory. Love my two El Machete's, the necks are flawless.
