I never had a problem with the DSL sound..they sound very good. The problem I had was reliability..gigged with one for about 2 years in the 90s. But it seemed every 4 months I'd have an issue with it. I always had my mini rack ADA unit with just in case.

He's always got great tone but I find his Les Paul tone has this congested, midrangey, dull tone compared to his big open Strat and Tele tones.

The '59 Les Paul sounds great on the Borderline DVD though.

When I saw him live, his Les Pauls, Firebird, SG, and Music Man all sounded almost exactly the same even though there was a combination of humbuckers, P90s, and mini-hums...his rig basically homogenizes anything plugged into it. It's far from being a dynamic, transparent tone.

Yeah. Even Joe jokingly calls it "the wall of dull".

Seems you are correct..my bad. I didn't see anything set up like that at the show I saw and I had a pretty good view..but not that close up. That's a nice Marshall fridge...

No problem. Also notice that the plexi on the end is the only "backline" amp that was turned on...the others weren't even hooked up.

On a side note, he used that amp in the lower left of the pic for one song (paired up with a Gibson jazz box...ES-350 IIRC) but I can't remember what it was...65 Amps or /13 maybe?

Yeah, looks like a couple aren't mic'ed up either.
