Does anyone know what gear was used during this time period for recording/live shows? I really love their tone!

I saw them on the last leg of the Get a Grip tour in Dallas, TX and I remember that Brad was using Peavey 5150's on that tour. I was a huge EVH fan at that time and thought it was cool to see Brad using the 5150.... even cooler though is that I actually bought one of the Peavey 5150's from Brad that he used on that tour a couple of years back!

my wife used to be a big fan and she had a ton of those "making of" videos. From what I recall, they were in a huge studio with about 75 different amps and countless guitars. I remember watching Joe solo for about 15 minutes with a bunch of different guitars and setups and the producers literally pieced most of it together for lead breaks on various songs. So, I guess in a long rambling way, I'm saying I don't know what they used!

Here's a link from aeroforceone.com annoucing the auctions in which Brad sold a bunch of his gear. There is a photo of Brad with a bucnh of equipment in which it's stated that "Some of the gear is from the Get A Grip Tour, some is from the Woodstock '94 concert and some was used on Saturday Night Live, etc." I think both Brad and Joe are serious tone/gear whores!

Thats what i figured...what amps would get my those tones? I really dig their tone on Get a Grip!

I don't think Joe or Brad could tell you what they used when they recorded. If you have to put pictures on the outside of your guitar cases in order to know what's inside...you got too much shit.

Honestly the Making of Pump video does show alot of what was used on some songs. That'd be your best bet.

Hmm. I missed the guitar tones. Guess the keyboards and horn sections along with Tyler's quintuple-tracked voice kinda drowned it out.

;)

I liked them before they found the horn section though.

Yeah, I'm generally not a big fan of horns in rock music either, but there is no denying that the horns on 'Pump' add to the songs. Overall, that is a fantastic sounding album, regardless of whether or not you like the material.....
